The Annual Joint Mini-Conference is a free, all-day event open to librarians, LIS professionals, and community partners providing an opportunity to network and exchange information about library services, collections, and projects that serve underserved populations in our communities. This is an all-day event of professional development that brings together the National Associations of Librarians of Color (NALCos), affiliates of ALA, providing an opportunity to connect with other dynamic professionals in the field and strengthen partnerships.
Our theme this year is Defining our Legacy | Adapting to instability, responding to crises, and elevating community. This theme suggests a moment of reflection and transformation. It emphasizes the importance of:
Legacy: Looking at what we leave behind — our impact, values, and contributions.
Adaptability: The need to be flexible and resilient in the face of instability or unpredictable challenges.
Responsiveness: The urgency and responsibility to act during crises — whether social, environmental, economic, or political.
Community: The importance of collective strength, empowerment, and mutual support.
Attendees will leave the conference inspired to continue developing collaborative solutions and proactive leadership.
