In order for a U.S. notary to conduct a RON signing you will need the following:

• A device with a camera and microphone. Examples are desktop computers, laptops, iPads and smartphones.

• A non-expired passport (any country) OR a U.S. State ID or U.S. Permanent Resident Card up to five years expired. If your U.S. ID is more than five years expired or you do not have sufficient ID, please send us an inquiry here. We can conduct a creditble witness signing if you are able to provide a credible witness to your identify.

• Reliable internet access (no roaming, no hot spots, no cell data). Must be connected to secure wifi or internet access.

No, signers do not need to download any software for the remote online signing. We recommend signers have Adobe Reader. Most platforms work proficiently on Google Chrome. We recommend signers download the latest version of Google Chrome for their signing.  

Yes, states accept notarizations from notaries in states across the U.S. All of our notaries follow the rules and guidelines established by their state when conducting Remote Online Notarizations. 

A remote online notary uses a state approved online platform that has technology to verify the signer’s identification and video technology to conduct the signing. A signer meets with a notary virtually over video conferencing to complete the signing. The remote online notary is conducting the signing in the state they represent, while signers can be anywhere in the world. Documents are sent to the signer directly following the signing. 

Remote online notaries can notarize all types of documents but examples include: home sales, loan packages, bill of sale, wills, adoptions, surrogacy, trust, power of attorney, affidavit, custody and guardianship agreements, court documents, executorships, advanced directives and many more.

Vital record applications can be notarized online. However, certified copies of vital records (birth/marriage/death certificates) can only be ordered through the agency that issued the document.

Remote online notarization is legal and utilized across industries. However, we recommend you ask your intended receipient if they will accept a digitally notarized document. 

All approved platforms meet a high level of security requirements including multi-factor authentication and encrypted video conferencing technology. Identifications that are uploaded are not stored after the signing is complete. Additionally, all licensed remote online notaries complete a background check and screening. 

You receive your notarized documents directly after a remote online notarization concludes. The file is sent in PDF format and encrypted so no changes can be made to the file. 

There is no specific type of device to use for remote online notarizations. However, the device must have a camera and microphone and be connected to reliable internet access for the signing to be conducted. 

Yes, multiple people can participate in a remote online notarization session. Each signer must qualify for a remote online notarization and be able to sign at the same time as other signers.
