Freddie Mercury was a very popular singer. He died from AIDS at the age of 45 in 1991.
World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations, and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.
World AIDS Day is one of the eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
As of 2017, AIDS has killed between 28.9 million and 41.5 million people worldwide, and an estimated 36.7 million people are living with HIV, making it one of the most important global public health issues in recorded history.
All the World AIDS Day campaigns focus on a specific theme. In 2019 it was Communities make the difference.
The students of our gymnasia could get some new information about AIDS from the information resource on the ground floor.

Before Christmas our students took part in some wonderful events. They watched the puppet performance "Morozko" and the presentation "PopUp books". They made Japanese New Year gifts and painted Christmas symbols.
Before Christmas 5 form students visited the Republican ski resort Silichi.
It is a modern recreation center which offers nine ski slopes, various types of ski-lifts, skating rinks, sports courts, comfortable rooms and the possibility of renting a house.

1B Form students watched the Republican Christmas performance in Minsk. Mr. Kondakov, the father of one of the students, invited 16 orphans and paid for their tickets. Many thanks to Mr. Kondakov. Christmas is time of wonders.
In December I visited Winter University of UNESCO clubs in the camp "Zubrenok".It was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Belarusian Association of UNESCO clubs. It became the best youth organisation in Belarus in 2019. Winter University had thematic days. Most of all I liked the days of non-formal education and mental and physical health. During Winter Univrsity we had different workshops and presented our projects on stage. The members of UNESCO clubs also got passports of the organisation. The atmosphere was friendly. I'd like to visit it again.
