Newton Day

The scientist with the weird hair, Albert Einstein, famously said, ‘We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.’ Some fresh ‘outside-in’ thinking can really help to unblock log-jams and stimulate ideas whenever you hit a crossroads.

Finding headspace where you can clear your head of ‘activity clutter’ can help too. Some of the greatest ideas of our age were originated by people on the beach, on a surf board, in potting sheds, showers, sneakers and meadows!

Newton Day is named after Sir Isaac Newton and that famous moment when Isaac got smacked on the head by an apple and discovered gravity. Seeing the same old problems in a new way can produce eureka moments.

Blend these things together – living in the moment, outside-in thinking, spaces free from activity clutter that encourage moments of deep concentration, eureka moments – and you create what we describe as a Newton Day.

The Beatles

The Beatles are a British rock band from Liverpool, founded in 1960, which included John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The group is also called the “Liverpool Four” or “Fab Four”. Their musical genres are rock, pop, mersibit, rock and roll, psychedelic rock, hard rock.

Starting by imitating the classics of American rock 'n' roll of the 1950s, The Beatles came up with their own style and sound. The Beatles have had a significant impact on rock music and are recognized by experts as one of the most successful bands of the 20th century. In 1963, the group began their ascent to success, giving rise to a global phenomenon - beatlemania with their creativity. Beatlomania is a term that originated in the 1960s to describe a state of intense love, bordering on madness, for the Beatles.

The Beatles are ranked first on the list of 50 Greatest Artists. The group has won ten Grammy awards. The film “Let It Be” to the music of The Beatles won an Oscar. Streets and squares of some cities are named after the group. So, the name of the group is the square in Hamburg. The Beatles star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In my opinion, their most famous songs are“Yesterday”, “Girl”, “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”, “Come Together”.

The Beatles are perfect, their songs, style, images, they are just the same ones whose songs can be listened to one after another and they will never become boring, because every time you notice something new. These are so talented people that while enjoying their songs, you can come up with different interesting images, perhaps some stories, pictures.

It is safe to say that their songs will remain in everyone's memory and will never die.

Up Helly Aa

Up Helly Aa is the biggest of the fire festivals that take place in the winter months in Shetland. This Viking themed fire festival takes place in Lerwick on the last Tuesday of January. The day involves a series of marches and visitations and in the evening is the most famous part – the torch-lit procession and Galley burning.

At 18:50, the men, known as Guizers (because they are in disguise), will gather to receive their torches. On the stroke of 19:30, a rocket fired into the sky is the signal for them to light up their torches. Then the blazing procession begins, with almost a thousand men marching, led by a large squad of Vikings; the Jarl Squad. The Jarl Squad march, pulling a Viking Galley with their leader – the Guizer Jarl – standing on top. When the Galley reaches the burning site, the torchbearers form a circle round it and sing the traditional Up Helly Aa song. Another rocket is fired and the Guizer Jarl leaves the ship. A bugle call sounds, and the torches are hurled into the galley! The burning galley and the flames in the January winds are quite as sight to see!

The Day of Belarusian Science

Every year on the last Sunday of January the Day of Belarusian Science is being celebrated in Belarus which has been officially established in 1993. The National Academy of Sciences which has been founded in 1928 is a leading research and scientific center of the Republic of Belarus. At present it consolidates highly qualified scientists of different specialties and dozens of research and development, science and production, design and innovation organizations. More than 18 000 researchers, technicians and support personnel, including many doctors and candidates of sciences work in the National Academy of Sciences.

The Resolution of the Second Congress of Scientists, which was held three years ago, wrote: "Belarusian science has become a real productive force that has a positive impact on the quality of economic growth and long-term prospects for the development of the country". Special emphasis was placed on active interaction of university science in this process, which was reflected in the Strategy "Science and Technology: 2018-2040" adopted by the congress.

We congratulate all scientists of the country on an important professional holiday - Belarusian Science Day! May every new day be full of creative and unique ideas, useful and great discoveries, interesting and worthy achievements! Let the science develop in our country and attract more and more talented, inventive, purposeful people!
