International Music Day

International Music day or the IMD was initiated on the 1st of October in 1975 by Lord Yehudi Menuhin. The IMC is the world's largest network of organizations, institutions and individuals functioning in the field of music. The International Music Council encourages and fosters musical diversity, access to culture for everyone and unites organizations in some 150 countries worldwide in building peace and understanding among people cutting across class, culture and heritage.

The IMC in its bid to establish a global harmony through the music, celebrates the International Music Day and with special focus on organizing musical events, radio and television programs and press recordings.

The girl in red

I like listening to music. My favourite singer is the girl in red. The girl in red - is the pseudonym of the Norwegian indie pop singer, whose real name is MarieUlvenRingheim.Ulwen came up with the pseudonym "girl in red" after trying to identify herself in a crowd in front of a friend using text.Marie, born in February 1999, is currently 21 years old. Her hometown is Hortenin Norway.

Concerts. If listening to her tracks, it seems to you that they are absolutely calm, then after visiting the concert, your opinion will change, since complete chaos reigns there, and the performance becomes reckless. Even not having the opportunity to attend the concerts of the Girl in Red, I watch the recordings of the concerts through the screen of my computer, I feel this crazy atmosphere, as if I were there with her.

She is known for reaching out to people with her “pop hymns about romance and mental health”.One of these songs that interested me more than other songs by Marie, called «I need to be alone»:

“I'm wasting my life on pointless things

I sometimes think

When does life begin…”

Fans chanting "Girl in Red, Girl in Red" during the concert encourages the singer to create new compositions. And as a fan of Girl in Red, I can say that- by inspiring her, she inspires us.

The legends of heavy metal

One of the most popular genres of music is metal. Different people listen to different music – jazz, rock’n’roll, etc. Each genre has variations. Metal may be heavy, folk, hard, glam and others. The legends of heavy metal are AC/DC. AC/DC are short for alternating current/different current. They have millions of fans. AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in November 1973 by Scotish born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. AC/DC as Led Zepellin, Deep Purple, Queen, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Black shabash, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest and Motorhead are regarded as pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal. The musicians themselves classify their music as rock’n’roll, because it is based on blues with a highly distorted sound of rhythmic guitars. The band underwent several line-up changes before the band’s first album “High voltage” was released in 1975. The band’s line up remained unchanged until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977. The most successful album is “Back in Black”. They have sold over 22 million in the USA and over 42 million worldwide. Overall AC/DC is the most successful and well-known Australian rock band and one of the most popular ones in the world. My favorite song of AC/DC is “Are you ready?”

I also like such bands as “In Extremo”, “Judas Priest”, “Black Shabash”. “In Extremo” have my favorite “Stortebeker”, “Judas Priest” have “Painkiller”. As for me metal is not just a kind of music that is just pleasant to listen to, it is our favourite music with dad. I learned about my favorite bands from him, and he hooked me on metal, although most of the relatives are against it, because the girl cannot like this kind of music. I feel sorry for them, because they don’t know how great it is.

Let's help animals

World Animal Day is a day of action recognised worldwide for animal rights as well as welfare. It is celebrated on 4 October, Francis of Assisi feast day, the animals’ patron saint. The mission of this day is raising the status of animals to improve welfare standards worldwide. Building the celebration of this day brings together the animal welfare movement, and mobilises it to become a global force in making the world that we live in a better and safer place for all animals.

Almost all of us have pets at home. These are dogs, cats, parrots, lizards, etc. People usually want to have beautiful cats and dogs with a good pedigree. They do not notice how homeless animals die of hunger and cold. And we can help them ! They need our help. They don't have any home or a master. They have only sad hungry eyes. Our task is to care of such animals as much as it is possible, because animals cannot care for themselves. If it is not possible to shelter a cat or a dog we can always feed them or tell other people about them. We can raise awareness of homeless animals and save them. Let's not be indifferent and help homeless animals find a home and loving owners.

United Nations Day

The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and its founding Charter. This anniversary comes in a time of great disruption for the world, compounded by an unprecedented global health crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with severe economic and social impacts. But it is also a reminder that times of struggle can become an opportunity for positive change and transformation.

There is no other global organization with the legitimacy, convening power and normative impact of the United Nations. Today, the urgency for all countries to come together, to fulfil the promise of the nations united, has rarely been greater.

24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by Member States as a public holiday.
