World Animal Day is a day of action recognised worldwide for animal rights as well as welfare. It is celebrated on 4 October, Francis of Assisi feast day, the animals’ patron saint. The mission of this day is raising the status of animals to improve welfare standards worldwide. Building the celebration of this day brings together the animal welfare movement, and mobilises it to become a global force in making the world that we live in a better and safer place for all animals.
Almost all of us have pets at home. These are dogs, cats, parrots, lizards, etc. People usually want to have beautiful cats and dogs with a good pedigree. They do not notice how homeless animals die of hunger and cold. And we can help them ! They need our help. They don't have any home or a master. They have only sad hungry eyes. Our task is to care of such animals as much as it is possible, because animals cannot care for themselves. If it is not possible to shelter a cat or a dog we can always feed them or tell other people about them. We can raise awareness of homeless animals and save them. Let's not be indifferent and help homeless animals find a home and loving owners.

The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and its founding Charter. This anniversary comes in a time of great disruption for the world, compounded by an unprecedented global health crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with severe economic and social impacts. But it is also a reminder that times of struggle can become an opportunity for positive change and transformation.
There is no other global organization with the legitimacy, convening power and normative impact of the United Nations. Today, the urgency for all countries to come together, to fulfil the promise of the nations united, has rarely been greater.
24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by Member States as a public holiday.
