Tectonophysics and Geodesy

I am interested in various problems related to earthquake cycle processes, rock deformation, active tectonics and landslides. My work involves combining geophysical observations of these processes with numerical simulations of the relevant dynamics to gain a better understanding of the overall mechanics and material properties of the Earth’s interiors.

My doctoral thesis research was conducted at the Earth Observatory of Singapore and Asian School of the Environment in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2016-2021. After graduating, I moved to Caltech Seismolab as the Texaco Prize Postdoctoral Fellow from 2021-2023.

I am currently a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at Jet Propulsion Labs in the Earth Surface & Interior group exploring what interesting properties of the solid Earth we can elucidate by combining the massive amounts of geophysical observations from recent remote sensing missions with the ever increasing power and capabilities of modern computing.

I support the use of open source software, and I have been trying to reduce my dependency on proprietary software. You can find the various projects I am working on, and have contributed to here: https://github.com/mallickrishg
