August 2018 - HERE WE GO!!!

The second season for the San Luis Valley Rattlers Mountain Biking Team is set to begin. A lot has been happening!!! We have been blessed as a team to get some large financial support. As benefactors of the 2017 12 Hours of Penitence Mountain Bike Race, we were able use that donation to purchase a team trailer and more team equipment. We are also part of the RIO Inspire Grant in Alamosa County. With funds received from RIO Inspire, we were able to purchase a variety of equipment for long term use by the Rattlers. Eight Specialized Chisel Mountain Bikes were part of that equipment!! This now allows us to recruit riders who need a quality mountain bike to ride and race.

We will start practice on July 31 (officially a pre season ride) as we prepare for our first race on August 26th at the Frisco Bay Invitational in Frisco, Colorado.

As we start practice, we have ten riders: three in middle school and seven on the high school team. The Rattlers' high school team have a home school student and students from Alamosa High School, Sargent High School, Monte Vista High School, Del Norte High School. Our middle school riders represent St Peter's Lutheran School in Monte Vista, Monte Vista Middle School, and the Moffat School in Moffat.
