The Rider Service & Leadership Development Intern focuses on enhancing Rider’s service initiatives and leadership development through the management of Meals on Wheels, the Rider Resource Pantry, and support for the Four Cornerstones. This role involves planning and assisting with various Four Cornerstone events and activities.
Term Duration: Full Academic Year
Main Supervisor: Senior Bonner Intern
Qualifications: Must have completed 2 full years in the Bonner Program. Must have completed two of the four cornerstones. Must have experience with have experience with the Rider Pantry & Meals on Wheels programs.
Hours per week: Complete 10-15 hours of in-person office hours.
Rider Service Support
Complete at least one shift at both the Pantry and at Meals on Wheels on a weekly basis.
Collaborate with the Graduate Assistant to manage and oversee volunteer staff.
Meet with the Pantry Managers Bi-weekly.
Assist Pantry Managers when needed.
Assist in recruiting and training volunteers.
Assists with recruitment and tracking of Meals on Wheels Food Prep volunteers..
Support tracking of pantry users and maintain accurate records.
Support pantry educational programs.
Represent the Rider Resource Pantry & Meals on Wheels at various events and meetings as needed.
Four Cornerstones/Leadership Development
First Year Trip - Assist with planning the service sites and activities in the fall. Assists with facilitating the activities.
Sophomore Exchange - Stay in contact with Bonner Foundation and participating schools for updates, meetings, and planning. If other schools are not planning to host, see if Rider can host or collaborate on a smaller meet-up with a school nearby like TCNJ. If all else fails, create workshops and leadership enrichment activities for the rider sophomores.
Junior Capstone - Plan and facilitate 3 workshops to help the Junior class with the initial planning (brainstorming issues and identifying the needs of the community partner). Main contact and mentor for the planning of the project.
Senior Presentations of Learning: Plan and implement two workshops for the Senior class to guide them in creating presentations that reflect on their service experiences, personal transformations, and post-graduation plans as influenced by their participation in the Bonner Program.
Bonner Buddy Initiative - Decide Bonner Buddy Pairs for incoming class (based on major, interests, etc.), and track the progression of the pairs throughout the academic year.
Bonner Intern Support
Attends weekly Intern Team meetings.
Attends 10-15 hours of office hours in person.
Gives notice 24 hours ahead of time when missing hours.
Attends weekly intern meeting.
Leads and creates weekly meetings.
Additional Assignments
Maintains RUServing@rider.edu email account.
Updates RUServing page on BroncNation.
Updates available Service Opportunities on BroncNation page.
Keeps Bonner Office Clean.
Other duties as assigned.
