Service Site Overview

  The Pantry Initiatives within the Rider Bonner program aims to serve within the food service programs within the City Trenton. First service program is the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) which combats hunger and builds community by providing nutritious meals and support to individuals and families in Trenton and surrounding areas in addition to providing various city resources. TASK aims to create a welcoming environment where everyone can access the resources they need to thrive. Secondly, the program Arm In Arm is a Trenton nonprofit providing vital resources like food, non-perishable goods, and shelter to thousands of families annually. Through community collaboration and volunteer efforts, they empower individuals to overcome challenges and thrive while connecting them to external state and local support.

SBTL Role

Duration: Full Academic Year

Main Supervisors: Bonner Impact Intern

Qualifications: Must have at least one semester experience as a AIA/TASK site member.

Administrative Responsibilities

1. Team

•  You must have a car to drive your team members to the site (if 21+ reach out to Senior Bonner to be van certified).

• Monitor attendance and hours of team members at the site.

• Plan and facilitate Site-Based Team Meetings bi-weekly.

• Be a role model to volunteers and site attendees.

• Build a positive community among your team of Bonner Students.

• Ensure your team acts appropriately at the site.

• Compile and maintain an accurate site semester schedule (attendance and driving).

2. Impact 

• Advocate the needs of the community through education.

• Act as a liaison to the student members of your team; relay information from the Bonner Interns and Site Staff Members.

• Maintain open communication with your Site Supervisor.

3. Programming

• Develop and manage projects and initiatives at the site.

• Collaborate to meet the needs of your Community Partner.

• Collaborate with Impact Intern ensuring and maintaining consistent communication 

(Updating on absences, informing on incident reporting, major site changes, and all other related issues/concerns).

4. Additional Administrative 

• Meet Bi-weekly with Bonner Impact Intern.

• Meet monthly with the Site Supervisor.

• Meet weekly with staff members in each room.

• Work with Bonner Impact Intern to manage transportation to/from the site.

• Team emails that are cc’ed with Bonner Impact Intern.
