The Civic & Campus Engagement Intern works on creating a culture of service campus-wide through the implementation of engaged learning programs, campus-wide service events, and other off-campus opportunities. Engaging in collaboration with other groups, clubs, and organizations on campus.
Term Duration: Full Academic Year
Main Supervisor: Senior Bonner Intern
Qualifications: Must have completed 2 full years in the Bonner Program. Must have an understanding of or experience with Engaged Learning Programs (e.g. End Hunger Advocates, Rider Votes, Medical Reserve Corps, etc.) and/or event planning and coordination.
Hours per week: Complete 10-15 hours of in-person office hours.
Engaged Service Learning Program
Develop, support and oversee engaged learning programs and programmers
Maintain contact with programers and the outside coordinator of the program.
Lead the planning, scheduling and implementation of Student Reflection sessions as a part of Rider’s Engaged Learning Initiative with the individual programmers.
Campus-Wide Events
Plan and implement campus-wide service events and collaborate with other groups on campus (e.g. Beach Sweeps, Thanksgiving Basket Drive, Bonner week of service, etc.) through planning, recruitment, collaborations, and assessments (follow-up reflection or survey)
Plan and implement events in collaboration with our community partners (e.g. Monster Mash, Homefront 5K, Read Across America Day, etc.)
Recruit and lead other organizations in Hunger and Homelessness
Provide information to Marketing & Communication Intern to include in the weekly newsletter.
Intern Support
Give a notice 24 hours ahead of time when missing hours.
Attend weekly intern meetings.
Works with Marketing & Communication Intern to advertise service opportunities.
Serve as a liaison between Rider and community organizations looking for student volunteers.
Maintain an ongoing list of student volunteer opportunities in the community

Additional Administrative Duties
Maintains RUServing@rider.edu email account
First Year Trip - Assist with planning the service sites and activities in the fall. Assists with facilitating the activities.
Assists with incoming Bonner applications and interviews.
Keeps Bonner Office Clean
Other duties as assigned
Meets weekly with Rider Staff Lead
