This Privacy Policy explains what information the Sudoku mobile application (the “App”) handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the App published by Richardson App Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) on Google Play. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

In plain terms: the App is a single-player puzzle game. The game itself stores your progress on your own device. The parts of the App that reach the internet are the ads that keep it free and an optional Google Play Games leaderboard you can choose to sign in to. Those features are provided by Google and are the main reason any data leaves your device.

1. Who We Are

Sudoku is published and operated by Richardson App Studio, based in India. We are the developer responsible for the App and for this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information stored on your device

The App saves your game data locally on your device using Android’s standard storage (Jetpack DataStore). This includes your puzzle progress and saved games, statistics (games played, wins, best times, scores, streaks), daily-challenge history, your leaderboard total score, and your settings (theme, symbol set, sound, and gameplay preferences).

This information stays on your device. We do not collect it, transmit it to our own servers, or have any ability to access it. Uninstalling the App, or using the in-app Delete all data option, removes it.

b. Information collected automatically to serve ads

The App displays advertising through Google AdMob (part of Google’s advertising services). To show ads, request rewarded ads, and limit fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK and its ad partners may collect and process:

your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID);
your IP address and general (approximate, non-precise) location derived from it;
device and app information such as device model, operating-system version, language, and app version;
ad-interaction data such as which ads were shown and whether they were viewed or clicked.

This data is collected directly by Google and its ad partners under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your advertising ID, IP address, or precise location. We access only aggregate, anonymous reporting (for example, how many ads were shown) through the AdMob dashboard.

c. Google Play Games Services (optional)

The App includes an optional leaderboard powered by Google Play Games Services. This feature is only active if you choose to sign in with your Google account. If you do, Google provides the App with your Play Games player ID and public gamer profile (such as your display name and avatar), and your total score is submitted to the Google-hosted leaderboard so it can be ranked against other players.

If you never sign in to Play Games, no leaderboard data is collected or shared. Play Games sign-in and the data associated with it are governed by Google’s privacy policy and your Google account settings.

d. App reviews

The App may occasionally use Google’s In-App Review feature to invite you to rate it. The rating dialog is displayed and handled entirely by the Google Play Store; we do not receive any personal information through it.

3. How Information Is Used

Information is used only to:

save and restore your game progress, statistics, and preferences on your device;
display advertising, including rewarded ads you choose to watch for in-game benefits (extra hint, second chance, or a score boost);
show your score on the optional leaderboard if you sign in to Play Games;
keep the App working reliably and prevent ad fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles ourselves — any ad personalization is performed by Google based on your consent (see Section 5).

4. Permissions the App Uses

The App requests only two permissions, both needed for its online features:

Internet — required to load ads and, if you sign in, to sync the Play Games leaderboard.
Network state — lets the App check whether you are online, for example to know whether a rewarded ad can be loaded.

The App does not request access to your precise location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files, or messages, and it does not send you push notifications.

5. Advertising & Your Consent Choices

Ads keep the App free. Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalized (based on data Google associates with your device) or non-personalized (based only on general context and coarse signals).

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App shows a consent message from Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before serving personalized ads, so you can accept or decline. You can review or change your choice at any time through the Privacy options control available in the App (shown where required by your region).

You can also limit ad personalization on your device at any time:

Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization.

6. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — advertising. See Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Google Play Games Services — optional leaderboard and sign-in. See Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play Store (In-App Review & distribution) — app delivery and rating prompts. See Google Privacy Policy.

We encourage you to review these policies to understand how Google processes data. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, but we selected these services because they are standard, widely used Google components.

7. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed for the services described above (advertising and, if you opt in, the Play Games leaderboard), all provided by Google. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the App.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

On-device data: Your game progress, statistics, and settings remain on your device until you delete them. You can remove all of this data at any time using the Delete all data option in the App’s Settings (which asks you to confirm before erasing), or by uninstalling the App.

Leaderboard data: If you signed in to Play Games, your leaderboard score is held by Google. You can manage or delete Play Games data through your Google account at myaccount.google.com and the Play Games app settings.

Advertising data: Data collected by Google for ads is retained and controlled by Google under its policies. Use your device’s ad settings (Section 5) to reset or limit it.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

If we ever direct the App at children or a mixed audience, we will comply with Google Play’s Families policy and applicable laws (such as COPPA and GDPR-K), including serving only non-personalized ads to those users.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Because the App stores your game data on your own device and does not send it to us, you can exercise the most important of these directly — by viewing, changing, or deleting your data within the App.

EEA / UK / Switzerland (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. The lawful bases we rely on are your consent (for personalized advertising) and our legitimate interests (to provide, secure, and support a free, ad-supported app). You may withdraw advertising consent at any time via the in-app Privacy options. For data held by Google (ads, Play Games), please also use Google’s own controls.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or “share” (as defined under California law) your personal information. California residents may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of certain advertising; you can exercise ad choices through your device settings and the in-app consent controls.

11. International Data Transfers

The third-party services used by the App (Google AdMob and Google Play Games Services) are operated by Google and may process data on servers located in countries other than your own, including the United States. Those transfers are handled by Google under its own safeguards and privacy framework.

12.Security

Your game data is stored in the App’s private storage area on your device, which is sandboxed by the Android operating system so other apps cannot read it. Data transmitted for ads and leaderboards is sent over encrypted connections by the Google SDKs. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we rely on established Google components and standard Android protections to keep your information safe.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add or remove a feature. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and, where appropriate, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
