I am a mathematician and am currently chief manager of the Institute for Applied Mathematics at the University of Bonn.
I am interested in problems of applied analysis, mostly in the PDE setting but with a strong Calculus of Variations flavour. Topics I work on include
PDEs in fluid mechanics
Effective properties and mean-field limits for suspensions and particulate flows
Non-Newtonian fluids
Models of phase separation and their long-time behaviour
Geometric and free boundary evolutions related to the foregoing topics
In my research I combine methods from fluid dynamics, kinetic theory, homogenization, the calculus of variations and the theory of gradient flows.
I am happy to announce that our ANR-DFG research project SUSPENSIONS has just been approved. You can find more Information here.
See also the summerschool "Particles in Flow" that I am co-organizing around the topic.
