Conceptual Knowledge and Communication Lab

About our research

We research the nature and neural basis of the cognitive systems that underpin our knowledge of people, objects, actions, and words (in other words, our semantic memory). We are also interested in how semantic cognition supports verbal and non-verbal communicative behaviour, and how this breaks down in the context of neurological disease, such as stroke and dementia.

We employ a multi-method approach that includes behavioral studies,  brain imaging and non-invasive neurostimulation.

We envisage that one day we can use our research findings to help people manage their language disabilities and social difficulties.
