The Last Dispensation is a speculative television series spanning several seasons. It is set in the first half of the nineteenth century, starting at the end of a period in American history known as the Second Great Awakening when religious fervor has swept the country. Our main protagonist amid an otherwise ensemble cast is Emma Hale, a young woman leading an unremarkable life who meets a young man who claims to have an unusual gift. That young man, Joseph Smith, goes on to establish what we know today as the branches of the Mormon church.
There is love, betrayal, death, revenge, scandals, and war as the early Saints move west to protect their beliefs and way of life. Emma—(not) always by Joseph's side—is forced to confront difficult moral decisions and ultimately sacrifice everything she knows for those she loves.
A note to my faithful Saint readers: This work is designed to tell the human side of a story that has been largely erased from history because it is messy, tragic, and... well... human. In adapting factual history for television—through years of personal research—as few changes as possible have been made to the order of events and the historical claims, but specific details are largely a work of fiction in order to tell a story. Please be advised that this story is not intended to be told in a faith-promoting way, though it may be that for you if you are willing to accept the human aspects of historical figures often elevated in Church-published materials. If in doubt, I would advise you do not read these scripts. Thank you.

Forbidden from associating with Joseph by her father, Emma is forced to make a difficult decision. Meanwhile, Joseph's past catches up with him.

More coming soon!
I'm not a screenwriter in a way that many people would consider me one if I chose to use that title. I don't have any writing credits, or awards, or have ever worked in a writers' room. I live in the Seattle area and I work in web development. But I have a good story, a desire to create things for others, and a passion for screenwriting.
The result? This. Success be damned.
This website is designed as a repository for my scripts, so that others may read them and imagine in their minds a television series as I'm writing it. (This website is also designed so that everything is in one place as I get more requests from readers for episodes or updated versions of episodes, which is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.) As long as I'm able to share the episodes with readers, the show exists in a way that satisfies me.
I will be adding more episodes as I write them. Bookmark this page or follow me on Twitter to see my latest updates and releases.
