It’s always a great pleasure and privilege for an artist to work with a live model. For an artist to work with a model who has danced with the Boston Ballet is far more so.
Mark Ricci is an artist, turned electrical engineer, turned artist. His works can be seen across the country in homes, businesses, gardens, and hotel lobbies. When not in the post and beam studio he built, Mr. Ricci teaches fine art.
Stainless steel art requires very little maintenance. Artwork placed indoors generally only need dusting. Outdoor stainless steel sculptures may require periodic washing. A mild soap and water solution will do the job. Outdoor sculptures should be given a spray coating of WD-40 to the entire surface every four to six months, and after washing, to keep the finish and stabilize it.

Mark Ricci's fountains can be seen in hotel lobbies, homes and businesses across the country.
Some years ago I sculpted the first Surface Tension Earth Fountain©, and had it in the Boston Spring Flower Show. It drew crowds. The show's management had me move it to the front of the exhibition so that people would see it when entering. It seemed like the paparazzi with people photographing it.

Water flows over the surface of the sphere, simulating the oceans. The continents and islands, which are separated from the surface of the sphere, stay dry.
The water emerges under the arctic and flows evenly over the surface of the sphere. The surface tension of the water keeps the water flowing over the entire surface of the sphere, even the underside, without splashing or dripping. The water travels under the continents which are connected to, and separated from the sphere by thin rods so that the continents stay dry.
Made from reclaimed materials, including a heavy brass sphere from a 1934 boiler. Treated with Permalac. PERMALAC is an air-dry lacquer, engineered to provide highly durable exterior protection on steel, aluminum, copper, silver and bronze as well as steel, wood, terracotta and concrete. The addition of UV and corrosion inhibitors to PERMALAC assures endurance in harsh conditions ranging from arctic freezing, to desert heat, to beachfront salt air to acid rain.
