Here is a collection of the workflows that I use when editing the 3D models.
They are just quick notes in plain text, to serve as guidelines.
Create a cylinder:
Object Mode
Shift+A: Add – Mesh – Cylinder
Rotate the cylinder horizontally and apply transform:
Object Properties – Rotation Y = 90º
Object – Apply – All Transforms
Resize cylinder:
Object Properties – Scale X = 5
Object Properties – Scale Y = 0.2
Object Properties – Scale Z = 0.2
Define Black and White colors:
Material Properties – + – New
Rename from “Material” to “White"
Base Color – edit color to white
Material Properties – + – New
Rename from “Material” to “Black"
Base Color – edit color to black
Split cylinder into segments:
Edit Mode
Loop Cut – Click in the middle of cylinder
Loop Cut submenu – Number of Cuts = 4
Assign colors
switch X-Ray ON
Face select – select whole cylinder
Material properties – select Black – Assign
Face select – select whole cylinder
Material properties – select Black – Assign
Face select – select faces in segments 2 and 5
Material properties – select White – Assign
Add text:
Object Mode
Shift+A - Add - Text
Set text properties:
Object Data Properties - Geometry - Extrude = 0.02 m
Object Data Properties - Font - Transform - Size = 0.08
Object Data Properties - Paragraph- Alignment - Horizontal = Center
Object Data Properties - Paragraph - Alignment - Vertical = Bottom
Material Properties - select "White"
Edit Mode - edit text
Tie text to scalebar:
Object Mode
Move to proper location
Select "Text"
Ctrl + Select "Cylinder"
Object - Parent - Object
