Ricardo Carrera

I was born in Ávila (Spain) a small World Heritage town in the core of the Castilian surrounded by one of the best preserved medieval walls.

I completed my basic education at Arturo Duperier elementary school and Isabel de Castilla high school both in Ávila.

After finishing the high school I moved to the Canary Islands to study  Physics, focused on Astrophysics, at the University of La Laguna (Spain).

My PhD thesis was devoted to study the chemical enrichment history and metallicity gradients in the Magellanic Clouds.

As postdoctoral researcher I have worked in several institutions around the world such as the Centro de Investigaciones de Astronomia (Venezuela), the Osservatorio di Astrofisica e Scienza de lo Spazio di Bologna (Italy), the Institut UTINAN (Besançon Astronomical observatory) of the Universite de Framche Comte (France), the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (Spain), and the Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova (Italy).

Currently, I am staff astronomer at the Osservatorio di Astrofisica e Scienza de lo Spazio di Bologna (Italy) working on massive spectroscopic surveys such as WEAVE or 4MOST.
