Thanks again for being a part of the RHSports e-Challenge 2022!

The RHSports e-Challenge is back!

This year, we’ll be participating in 5 tasks for 5 weeks. The Practice | Play | Win challenge will involve a different task being announced each week over the span of 5 weeks. Points will then be earned by doing a task and tallied for a total score at the end of the challenge.

Students will complete 1 task per week and participate in a sporting activity such as throwing, shooting or kicking and receive a point per goal, catch or hit.

One official score per student but as many practice rounds as the student wants beforehand or afterwards. Teacher/student to use discretion as to when the official challenge starts.

Points will then be added up from each participating student to a combined score for their school and added up into an online tally to count towards a total score at the end.

Andy from MrHairPhysed will provide a short instructional videos at the end of each week to announce the next task and demonstrate how it’s done!

This E-Challenge is designed to engage students in different sports and show them how practicing a skill can yield improvement and results. Each task can be tailored to the skill level of your students – increase the difficulty, ramp up the challenge!

The challenge will take place during Term 2, commencing on the 26th of April and ending on the 3rd of June.

Week 1 Challenge - Footy Kick

The activity for Week 1 invloves the Fundamental Motor Skill of the Punt.

Kicking Goals is the challenge and you will be required to do 5 Kicks, from 5 Places to score 5 points.

Each of these places located in the shape of a semi-circle around the goal posts at one end of your footy ground. (If you do not have access to a footy ground you can use cones to simulate goal posts and set up in an open space).

There are different kicking distances for different skill levels.

Novice 15 Metres

Beginner – 20 Metres

Lunchtime Player – 25 Metres

Weekend Junior – 30 Metres

Teenage Titan – 35 Metres

Better Than Average – 40 Metres

Each Kick Comes at a different angle where you are trying to kick through the goals in which you will get 1 point for every goal kicked out of the 5 different angles. (Maximum of 5 Points)

Record your score once you complete the challenge and log it with your teacher or whoever else is logging points for your school.

Don’t forget to have fun and we look forward to seeing your results!

Week 2 Challenge - Tennis Baseball

The activity for Week 2 is Tennis Baseball and invloves the Fundamental Motor Skill the Forehand Strike.

Hitting tennis balls with a tennis racquet is the challenge and you will be required to hit 5 balls into 5 zones to score 5 points.

As seen from the graphic in the week 2 video, the target zones are created in the shape of a baseball diamond with each zone being split evenly.

When you are scoring yourself for the challenge you will get one hit per zone so if you are aiming for zone 1 but the ball lands in zone 2 you will not get any points. If you were aiming for zone 1 and the ball lands in zone 1 you will get a point, that is the same for all 5 zones. A maximum of 5 points can be earned per participant.

You can either have the tennis balls thrown to you with different variations to the throw if you would like to increase the difficulty, or you can hit the ball from a throw you threw to yourself.

Record your score once you complete the challenge and log it with your teacher or whoever else is logging points for your school.

Don’t forget to have fun and we look forward to seeing your results!

Week 3 Challenge - Throw Basketball

The activity for Week 3 is Throw Basketball and invloves the Fundamental Motor Skill Throw.

Throwing bean bags into hoops laid along the ground is the challenge and you will be required to throw 5 bean bags into 5 hoops to score 5 points.

For this challenge you will need 6 hoola hoops, 5 bean bags and a basketball court or large open space.

One hoop will be used as a starting point in the corner of the activity area, while the other hoops will be placed around in different positions with different degrees of throwing difficulty depending on the age group participating. View the diagrams of hoop placement in the video or right here.

Do this activity by throwing a bean bag either over hand or under arm to each of the 5 hoops laid out, with each bean bag that lands in or on the edge of a hoop counting as a point. You get one bean bag throw attempt per hoop, so if you miss a hoop you do not try and throw a bean bag at that same hoop again.

Record your score once you complete the challenge and log it with your teacher or whoever else is logging points for your school.

Don’t forget to have fun and we look forward to seeing your results!

Week 4 Challenge - Comet Catch

For this challenge you will need a partner, 6 hoops, a NYDA Comet and a basketball court or large open space.

The Rules of Comet Catch

  • One Partner throws the NYDA Comet from the corner.

  • The other partner must then catch the comet from each of the 5 hoop positions.

  • Each Comet that is caught is worth one point with a maximum of 5 Points to be earned.

One hoop will be used as a starting point in the corner of the activity area, while the other hoops will be placed around in different positions with different degrees of throwing difficulty depending on the age group participating. View the diagrams of hoop placement in the video or right here.

(If you would like to up the difficulty you can try an older age groups hoop set-up)

Record your score once you complete the challenge and log it with your teacher or whoever is logging points for your school.

Don’t forget to have fun and we look forward to seeing your results!

The Rules of Kick it!

  • Set up the hoops/cones as the kicking positions

  • Kick the ball from each position

  • Try and score a goal each time
