Nature in the Rio Grande Valley

The Rio Grande Valley is a shining example of biodiversity and home to many rare and migrating animal and plant species. Visitors come from all around the world for bird-watching at our many wildlife parks and refuges. Agriculture and urban development has cleared 95% of our natural habitat, so it is more important than ever to appreciate and preserve our unique ecosystem. Here at the McAllen Public Library, we have many resources for you to learn more, whether you have lived here all your life or are visiting from afar.
