p.s. i know its in the broadcast software but that requires a RTX card unlike the stand alone exe it supported GTX as well which is what my friend has

Edit: Actually nevermind. I went to grab a screenshot showing it stuck in a higher power state while RTX voice was running in the background but it still went in to P8 p-state. Maybe it was something else that was causing that problem then.

I installed the GOG version of Skyrim AE in desktop mode with wine and added the exe to steam as a non steam game. It boots up and runs fine, but I can't hear the NPC voices. I am forcing GE compatibility, and have tried the other proton versions but same issue.

If you don't have the Linden SL viewer installed, install it and see if it works for voice. This will give an idea of where the problem is. -- This Linden viewer is the troubleshooting step most of use. I keep several viewers installed just because I'm insane... but, it makes troubleshooting much quicker. Also, if you do have to resort to SL Support they will ask if you are using the Linden viewer if not, they will blow you off.

This all seems to me to point to the slvoice service...the third party Skype-like VOIP service that Second Life uses. Go into Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL, Task Manager) and look in Services. Are there multiple instances of slvoice running? Stop all but one of them. Also, you may want to check and see if you can whitelist slvoice in your antivirus software. See if you maybe need to open a port in your Windows firewall and/or your router's firewall as well. If none of that helps, it may be time to contact your ISP.

For those that aren't familiar with Smite, the game doesn't have any native microphone integration.
