C.I.T Program

Children's Fairyland is offering a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for youth ages 12 to 14 or rising seventh through ninth graders in conjunction with our Summer Day Camp program. CITs become stewards of Fairyland camp, serving as role models for our younger campers. CITs assist in activities, games, and team-building projects. They will have a chance to develop their leadership experience in a fun and supportive environment, while gaining real-world work experience.

Obviously, this sense of humor is NOT going to be for everyone. Myself, I thought everything about comic was hilarious XD The cartoon coloring and art style, mixed the violence and blood; how Young spun the character of Gertrude. I thought they way he made fun of the whole fairy tale story was genius! It is literally the complete opposite of what you would expect. Also in the issue, he pokes fun at princesses, how all fairy tales have riddles, and other little things in the fairyland world that you would think off.

Dinosaur Fairyland boasts a couple of the biggest dinosaur models on the planet: a couple of giant kissing sauropods soaring above the road. The kissing dinosaurs are world famous, but yet no one visits them.

The interest in traditional cultures extended to European folklore. A new generation of folklore collectors, such as the Brothers Grimm, realised that the migration of peasant populations to the city was dismantling centuries of folk stories, songs, and oral histories with alarming rapidity. In Britain, Robert Southey was a prominent collector of vanishing folk traditions, soliciting and publishing examples offered by his readers. The Victorian fairy tradition, as it emerged, was imbued with a Romantic sensibility in which rustic traditions were no longer coarse and backward but picturesque and semi-sacred, an escape from industrial modernity into an ancient, often pagan land of enchantment. The subject lent itself to writers and artists who, under the guise of innocence, were able to explore sensual and erotic themes with a boldness off limits in more realistic genres and to reimagine the muddy and impoverished countryside through the prism of classical and Shakespearian scenes of playful nature spirits. The lore of plants and flowers was carefully curated and woven into supernatural tapestries of flower-fairies and enchanted woods, and mushrooms and toadstools popped up everywhere. Fairy rings and toadstool-dwelling elves were recycled through a pictorial culture of motif and decoration until they became emblematic of fairyland itself.

Gertrude was a little girl who wished to go on a grand adventure. Her wish came true one day, when her bedroom floor opened up and sent her careening into Fairyland, a magical place full of wonder. Gertrude was sent on a quest alongside her fly guide Larry to find the key that would allow her to return. The only issue was that she was terrible of questing. Gertrude spent nearly 30 years traveling across Fairyland, maintaining her young body and slowly losing her mind. Bitter, alcoholic, and downright depressed, Gertrude slaughtered her way across Fairyland, getting into various kerfuffles and the like.

The park features dozens of full scale dinosaur models as well as bones, both real and fake. There are also lots of photo opportunities with dinosaurs smashing down walls and hatching from eggs. However, Dinosaur Fairyland is never crowded, probably due to its remote location, about 20km outside the town of Erlian in Inner Mongolia, China.
