Resumen

Introducción. Desde su incepción, la kinesiología en Chile ha sido fundamental para la red de salud nacional de manera transversal. Con los años, los kinesiólogos han diversificado sus roles, ampliando sus habilidades más allá de la atención directa, participando en la gestión de salud y en la educación de pacientes, familias y otros profesionales. Esta expansión ha generado una creciente necesidad de investigaciones científicas que fortalezcan la práctica basada en evidencia, lo que ha llevado a un crecimiento sostenido de la investigación realizada por kinesiólogos en los últimos 20 años. A pesar de estos avances, el panorama investigativo chileno y su evolución no han sido adecuadamente descritos y analizados. El impacto de la evidencia generada, los temas abordados y las redes autorales, tanto nacionales como internacionales, no han sido caracterizados de manera exhaustiva. Un estudio bibliométrico, combinado con herramientas de revisión exploratoria, podría ofrecer un análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo del desarrollo de la investigación en kinesiología en Chile. Objetivo. Describir y analizar la evolución de la investigación en kinesiología en Chile. Métodos. Se registrarán artículos de bases de datos como MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, PEDro, SciELO, Latindex, LILACS, Cochrane Library, CINAHL y SPORTDiscus, publicados hasta el 1 de enero de 2024. Se realizará una primera búsqueda utilizando términos en el campo de afiliación: (Chile AND (kinesiol* OR fisioterap* OR “terap* fisic*” OR “cien* de la salud” OR rehabil* OR physiotherap* OR “phys* therap*” OR “heal* sci*”)), seguida de una segunda búsqueda similar en el campo de Título/Resumen de acuerdo con la disponibilidad de cada base de datos. Los datos autorales y de publicación serán analizados mediante VOSviewer®

Profile of the Physiotherapist in Respiratory Health

Abstract

Background. Since its inception, physiotherapy in Chile has been vital to the national healthcare network, covering primary care to intensive care. Over the years, physiotherapists have diversified their roles, expanding skills beyond direct patient care to include health system management and education for patients, families, and health professionals. This expansion has created a growing need for scientific research to support evidence-based practice. Consequently, research conducted by physiotherapists has seen sustained growth linked to academic development and public policies, significantly increasing national scientific production over the last 20 years. However, the Chilean investigative landscape and its evolution have not been thoroughly described or analyzed. The impact of this research, the addressed themes, and the authorial networks—both locally and internationally—remain uncharacterized. A bibliometric analysis combined with scoping review tools could provide a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of Chilean investigative production and its evolution. Objective. To describe and analyze the evolution of the investigative landscape of Chilean physiotherapy. Methods. The MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, PEDro, SciELO, Latindex, LILACS, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and SPORTDiscus databases will be searched from inception until January 1st, 2024. The search strategy will consist of a filtering process of the affiliation field using the terms: (Chile AND (kinesiol* OR fisioterap* OR “terap* fisic*” OR “cien* de la salud” OR rehabil* OR physiotherap* OR “phys* therap*” OR “heal* sci*”)). Then, a second process will be conducted using the same terms in the Title/Abstract field according to the availability of each database. The articles’ publication data, metrics, and authorial data will be extracted and merged for bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer®.
