A Retrospective Vision
June  17

A forum for critical reflection & deep discussion on past, present, and future trends

In the current fast-paced world of computer vision research, we hardly find time to pause and reflect. While conferences and workshops may be a good resource for such reflection, members of our community get busy publicizing new methods and constant benchmark-chasing efforts. Reflective and retrospective dialogs stay restricted to small groups on dinner tables and, often, exclusive circles. We wish to create a wide and open space for students and early-stage researchers to witness their community leaders reflect and share insights not about the current and “state-of-the-art”, but open discourse on diverse topics:

Our goal is not only to showcase the latest breakthroughs but also to shed light on long-standing theories, forgotten contributions, and detours within the field. This retrospective look is not just an exercise in nostalgia but an urgent need to understand our research trajectory, to learn from our collective experience, and to inform future decisions in a rapidly evolving field. It will serve as an intellectual pit stop that allows the community, from graduate students to distinguished researchers, to reorient, reassess, and rejuvenate.
