Rethink Research

Workshop 1

  • When: Saturday 18th January, 10 - 3pm
  • Where: STEM Centre, University of Essex (Colchester Campus)
  • Cost: Free!

Are you interested in discovering a more creative way to approach mental health research?

This FREE workshop is a unique opportunity to explore a collaborative way to design and conduct research into mental health. We will be working together to develop “design challenges” based on the following question:

How might we meet the real needs of children and young people with poor emotional/mental health in North Essex?

We will provide you with support and expertise to have open and honest conversations. This will enable you to establish creative, diverse and cross-disciplinary research partnerships.

The workshop open to all with experience (or an interest in) young people’s emotional health and wellbeing. This includes:

  • Young people
  • Parents
  • Youth workers
  • Teachers
  • NHS practitioners
  • Local authority professionals
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Community leaders
  • Clinical and cross-disciplinary academic researchers
  • University students

This is the first of three workshops. It will focus on understanding the various mental health challenges facing young people, their families and the professionals who care for them.

This initiative is funded by NIHR Research Design Service East of England and is part of the Reaching Out programme (NIHR INVOLVE). The workshops are being supported by staff from the University of Essex.
