1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy describes how Resume/CV Builder ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Resume/CV Builder is an offline-first resume creation tool. The vast majority of your data never leaves your device. We do not operate servers, we do not require user accounts, and we do not collect or transmit your personal resume content to any server.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you use the App to build your resume, you enter personal and professional information including:
- Full name, job title, email address, phone number, and physical location
- LinkedIn profile URL, GitHub profile URL, and personal website URL
- Professional summary
- Work experience details (company names, job titles, dates, descriptions)
- Education history (institutions, degrees, fields of study, GPA, honors)
- Skills, certifications, languages, awards, and volunteer experience
- Professional references (names, titles, companies, contact information)
- Custom resume sections
- Profile photograph (selected from your device gallery)
All of this information is stored exclusively on your device in a local database. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party service because we do not operate any servers. We have no ability to access, read, or retrieve your resume content.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
The App itself does not collect any analytics, usage data, crash reports, or telemetry. However, the App integrates Google AdMob for advertising, which automatically collects certain data as described in Section 3.
2.3 App Preferences
The App stores your preferences locally on your device using Android DataStore. This includes your theme preference, sound and haptic feedback settings, default paper size, export quality setting, and basic usage counters (such as total exports and app open count). This data never leaves your device.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
3.1 Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob (banner ads and interstitial ads). When ads are loaded, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process the following data:
- Approximate location derived from your IP address
- Device identifiers including the Android Advertising ID
- App interaction data such as ad views and ad clicks
- Device and performance diagnostics data
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). Google may use this data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, perform analytics, and prevent fraud.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device settings under Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization, or by resetting your Advertising ID.
3.2 Google Fonts
The App may download font data from Google Fonts for rendering resume text. This connection transmits only the font request to Google servers. No personal data is sent. Google Fonts is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not integrate any other third-party analytics, crash reporting, social media, or tracking SDKs.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
4.1 Resume Data (Stored Locally Only)
Your resume content is used solely to:
- Display and edit your resume within the App
- Generate a visual preview of your resume
- Export your resume as a PDF document saved to your device's Downloads folder
- Share your resume PDF via the Android share sheet to apps of your choosing
We never use your resume content for advertising, profiling, data mining, or any purpose other than providing the App's core functionality to you.
4.2 Advertising Data (Processed by Google)
Data collected by Google AdMob is used to:
- Serve advertisements within the App
- Measure ad performance
- Prevent advertising fraud
- Improve Google's advertising services
This processing is handled entirely by Google. We do not have access to the raw data Google collects through AdMob.
5. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
5.1 Local Storage
All resume data is stored in an encrypted local SQLite database (Room) on your device. Profile photographs are stored as references (URIs) to images in your device gallery. App preferences are stored in Android DataStore on your device.
5.2 No Cloud Storage
We do not store any of your data on remote servers, cloud platforms, or external databases. There is no cloud backup, cloud sync, or remote storage feature in the App.
5.3 Data in Transit
The only network communications made by the App are for loading advertisements (Google AdMob) and downloading fonts (Google Fonts). These connections use encrypted HTTPS transport.
5.4 PDF Export
When you export a resume as PDF, the file is saved locally to your device's Downloads folder. When you share a PDF, it is transmitted directly from your device to the receiving app via Android's built-in sharing mechanism. We are not involved in this transfer and do not receive a copy.
6. DATA SHARING
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal resume data with any third party.
The only data shared with a third party is the data automatically collected by Google AdMob as described in Section 3.1. This sharing is necessary to display advertisements and is governed by Google's data processing terms.
When you use the share feature to send a PDF, you are directly sharing the file with the app you choose. We do not intercept, copy, or log shared files.
7. DATA RETENTION
7.1 Resume Data
Your resume data remains on your device for as long as you keep it. You can delete individual resumes at any time from within the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all resume data and app preferences from your device.
7.2 Advertising Data
Data collected by Google AdMob is retained and managed by Google according to their data retention policies. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
8. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
8.1 Access and Control
Because all your resume data is stored locally on your device, you have full and immediate control over it. You can view, edit, or delete any resume data at any time directly within the App.
8.2 Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions. You can grant or revoke these at any time through your device settings:
- Camera: To take a profile photograph directly (optional)
- Read Media Images / Read External Storage: To select a profile photograph from your gallery (optional)
- Write External Storage (Android 9 and below only): To save exported PDF files to your Downloads folder
- Internet and Network State: Required for loading advertisements
- Notifications: To send you local reminders (optional)
- Vibrate: For haptic feedback in the user interface (optional)
The App functions without Camera, Media, and Notification permissions. These are optional and the App will prompt you to grant them, but you can skip or deny them.
8.3 Ad Personalization
You can opt out of personalized advertisements at the device level through your Android settings as described in Section 3.1.
8.4 Data Deletion
To delete all your data, you can either delete individual resumes within the App or uninstall the App entirely. Since we do not store your data on any server, uninstalling the App is a complete and permanent deletion of all your resume data.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not participate in the Google Play Designed for Families program.
10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
