Title: Birational maps to (degenerate) (symplectic) Grassmannians
Abstract: I’ll begin by recalling the theory of PBW degenerate representations and their corresponding degenerate flag varieties. The focus will be on the case of fundamental representations of the special linear and symplectic groups.
The main geometric object of the talk is the graph closure of a certain birational map from a projective space to a Grassmannian. I’ll show how this graph closure embeds into projectivizations of certain representations of a degeneration of the Lie group and describe bases of these representations. Additional geometric properties of the graph closure will also be described: realization as a fiber bundle, bihomogeneous coordinate ring, dimension.
The talk is based on my Master’s thesis, prepared under the supervision of Evgeny Feigin.
