Rent Book is an Android app that helps a landlord keep track of rent for the rooms and flats they let out. This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain terms.

THE SHORT VERSION
Rent Book keeps everything on your own phone. We do not run a server, we do not collect your data, and we never see what you enter. If you switch on Google Drive backup, the backup goes to YOUR Google Drive, not to us.
WHAT THE APP STORES
You decide what to enter. The app can hold building names and addresses; room numbers, floors, rent amounts and electricity meter numbers; tenant names, phone numbers and WhatsApp numbers; photographs you choose to attach such as a tenant photo, an ID document, a rent agreement, a payment screenshot or a bill; rent charged, payments received, dates, payment method and notes; and expenses with optional bill photographs. All of it is written to a database file inside the app's own private storage on your phone. No other app on the phone can read it.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR PHONE
Nothing, unless you ask for it.
Google Drive backup is optional and off by default. If you connect a Google account, the app writes a backup file into the hidden folder Google Drive reserves for this app in your own Drive account. Only this app can read that folder. We have no access to it. The app asks only for the drive.appdata permission, which cannot see or touch any of your other Drive files.
Backup files you save or share go wherever you send them. That is your choice and your copy. The Excel export works the same way.
If Google backup is switched on for your phone, Android may include this app's data in the phone backup held in your own Google account. That is a feature of Android, under your control in phone settings.
The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting. It makes no network calls of its own except to Google Drive, and only when you have connected an account.
PHONE CALL, WHATSAPP AND SMS BUTTONS
Tapping these opens your phone's dialler, WhatsApp or messaging app with the message already typed. Rent Book does not place calls or send messages itself, and does not read your call log, contacts or messages.
PERMISSIONS THE APP ASKS FOR
Notifications, to remind you when rent is due or late. Run after restart, so those reminders survive switching the phone off. Camera and photo picker, only when you choose to attach a photo. Google Drive app folder, only if you switch on Drive backup.
INFORMATION ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE
If you enter a tenant's name, phone number or identity document, you are recording information about someone else. That information stays on your phone and in your own backups. You remain responsible for handling it lawfully, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Rent Book gives you the tools; it does not become the holder of that information.
CHILDREN
The app is meant for adults managing rental property. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from them.
DELETING EVERYTHING
Uninstalling the app removes the database and all photographs stored inside it. Backup files you saved elsewhere, and any backup in your Google Drive, are not touched by uninstalling; delete those yourself if you want them gone. You can disconnect the Google account at any time from the app's settings. To have any backup removed, delete it from your own Google Drive or write to nimavatnitesh111@gmail.com.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version appears at this same web address.
