As I grew up, I became fascinated by art and nature. Life began to intervene early, however and, rather than major in art in college, I took the practical route and went with journalism. I did manage to use some of my electives for art courses, however, and got some good instruction before I graduated.
Then life intervened in the form of a hitch in the navy, graduate school, wife and family, earning a living, etc. and my artistic endeavors went on the back burner. While I was in the Far East with the Navy, however, the exotic beauty with which I was surrounded drew me deeply into photography. Finally after a long career in public relations and university teaching, I am retired and have slid very comfortably into my first loves: art and nature.
We now live in Denver, Co., which is ideal for someone like me. There are art and photography organizations everywhere and many of them offer lessons. Additionally, I have been going to photography workshops in various photogenic parts of the country and many of the results have ended up on the website. I can get up into the mountains from my house in half an hour which surrounds me with nature and scenic opportunities in both art and photography.
I am currently a member of the Lakewood Art Gallery and have been a part of a number of exhibits in the area.
