Remote Learning

(Parents read below)

Welcome

I'm glad you're here..actually, I'm not. I wish we were all in our normal environments learning and playing, but we aren't. So, with that in mind, I welcome you to my remote learning page. I'm thrilled to be able to share these free resources with you. I created this page to support my own children (grades 3 & 5) during an unsure amount of time home together. Knowing that a break is nice, but some structure is good for our moods and our minds, I curated some activities to keep us going during our work week.

About the Site

I designed this site as a way for my children to find some structure and learn a few things during this extended break. The idea is that they can choose whichever activities they want to complete during their "academic" blocks of time on the schedule to the right.

I do not intend to extend this beyond my own children's grades at this time. I will be working full time during the current school shut down, so my time is limited. That said, my intention is to update the site each week with additional activities. Look for new activities to be loaded on Sunday sometime. You'll notice that math is linked out to a CK12 class. Your child is welcome to join my 3rd or 5th grade math classes and complete the activities. Just click the site link and use the join code listed on either the lower elementary or upper elementary page to view materials. The resources shared here are all free to use. CK12 is always a free site, but Scholastic has opened up their reading learn at home site for all during this time! 👏🏼 That said, if you find that the Scholastic passage listed on the site is too easy or too hard for your child, most of them have buttons on the left side of the article for a higher lexile* or lower lexile. The article will adjust when you click the button.

*Not sure what lexile is? Here is some more info and a chart to guide you.
