What is Usui Reiki?
The system of Reiki is a Japanese spiritual practice from the early 1900s
that supports healing and personal development through relaxation.
It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" which flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki is very popular and a beautiful healing art offering beneficial, calming, balancing, and stress-reducing effects. It is based on energetic principles and is practiced in many hospitals, medical settings, and in private practices all around the world.

Long Answer:
The spiritual healing art of Reiki works by channeling positive energy into your body, will place my hands on the affected areas of the body that need a boost, as well as to the entire body. Your body will take in the energy where it is needed most.
This powerful flow of positive energy may bring a near-immediate sensation of relief as it releases tension, lessens the impact of stress, and replaces negative energy with positive. Some refer to this positive Reiki energy as the life force, and indeed it can bring new life to a stressed-out, tired body.
How does Reiki work on stress symptoms?
The IARP.org suggests that instead of experiencing headaches or angry outbursts, Reiki may potentially help you enjoy:
A boost to your body’s healing mechanisms, which once again begin to function effectively
Potentially reduced blood pressure, heart rate, and stress hormones from the relaxation response
Increased immune system strength
Shifting from the stress response of “fight or flight” to the relaxation response
Restoration of balance to your body, mind, and soul
Reiki energies have a high and healthy frequency and potency. Reiki masters and practitioners undergo an attunement process in order to effectively channel the Reiki energies. You can use Reiki on its own for enhanced wellness or in conjunction with traditional medicine anytime your body, mind, and soul needs a powerful, beautiful boost.
Can you use Reiki on acute or chronic conditions?
If you have an acute condition please seek out a licensed medical professional immediately. If you have a chronic or current issue, Reiki can be an excellent complement to your wellness plan.
These are two different types of energy that you may benefit from. If you are debating between the two, I suggest going with what you are most drawn towards.
