General Information about Our EEG Experiment
→ What is EEG?
EEG (Electroencephalogram) is a non-invasive technique that measures electrical activity in the brain using sensors placed on your scalp. It helps us understand brain function by monitoring how your brain reacts to different tasks.
→ What to Expect?
Our lab sessions are designed to be exciting, informative, and safe. A typical session runs as follows:
Welcome and Briefing: Upon arrival, you will be greeted and given an overview of the experiment. After signing the consent form and completing a short questionnaire, we will proceed if all criteria are met.
EEG Preparation: Depending on the system, you will wear a cap or have a plaster applied to ensure accurate brain activity recording. This process is not painful, though your hair may get slightly dirty from the conductive saline gel.
Computer Tasks: You will complete computer-based tasks, such as math problems or responding to visual and auditory stimuli, which will be explained to you in advance.
Experiment Completion & Compensation: After the experiment, you can freshen up, and compensation will be provided within 14 days. You may need to wash your hair to remove the gel, and our lab is equipped with a shower for your convenience.
→ Possible Risks:
EEG is generally very safe, but mild discomfort like scalp irritation may occur.
→ Additional Requirements:
Some studies have specific requirements. For example, EEG cap studies may not be suitable for participants with certain hairstyles, as they can make accurate data collection difficult.
