Water/ No Water Activity review

Paper towel needs water. Paper towel is a product that comes from trees and trees need water. Water is also needed to manufacture and package them for sale.

Pencils need water because they come from trees. Trees need water to grow.

Umbrellas need water to be made. The dye that makes the fabric different colors, the fabric, the metal and plastic parts all need water. The fabric is probably nylon and is made from oil. Oil used to be plants and animals until time and pressure changed it to what we know today. Nylon is water resistant and that makes it good for umbrellas.

Ducks need water! Not only do they swim in it they are living organisms that need water to live.

Children need water. Hopefully this one was easy. Children need to keep clean, have clean clothes and homes which requires water. Children also need water to live; humans are animals (mammals) we need water everyday. If you don't drink water you probably drink milk or juice; fresh foods are mostly water as well.

Cell phones need water. Cell phones are made with materials that once needed water and they require water during manufacturing. Please don't get cell phones wet that is usually not good for them. Keeping them clean and germ free is important. Many cleaners are mostly water.

Cars need water. This car is fancy and most people with fancier cars want to keep them extra clean. Washing a car is one way it needs water. Cars also need water to be manufactured including the interior rugs and seats as well as the metal, plastic and rubber parts including tires. The fuel for most cars is gasoline. Gasoline is a fossil fuel which means that it used to to be plants and animals before time and pressure changed it to oil and then it was refined becoming the fuel we are familiar with.

Computers need water. Please don't ever get a computer wet but in order to make the computer and all of the parts that make it up you need water. Plastics come from oil, fossil fuel that used to be plants and animals before time and pressure changed it into what we use today.

Paper clips need water when they are being manufactured. Some are just metal and others are coated with plastic to make them bright colors and reduce rusting.

Clothes need water. Clothes need water to be washed but also to dye them different colors and the products that clothes are made of need water. For example wool comes from animals (sheep) and cotton is a plant; these living things need water for survival.

Hammers need water. Hammers are often made with metal and wood. To manufacture them you need water but water is also needed for trees and that is where the wooden handle comes from.

Trees need water. Trees are plants and are living things. All living things need water for survival.

Shopping carts or buggies need water. Shopping carts are made of metal, in order to manufacture the different shapes and the raw materials to produce them water is needed. We also have to wash shopping carts to prevent the spread of germs from other humans and some of the products we place in those carts.

Dogs need water. Dogs and other pets are animals that need water for survival. Many animals like dogs also need to to get regular baths to stay healthy.

Books need water. Books need water because the main product is paper. Paper's raw material is a tree which is living and needs water for survival. In the process of making paper the fibers from the tree are also put in water. Perhaps you have had the opportunity to make paper from scrap paper or newspaper. In order to do that you need to shred or cut the paper, soak it in water and blend it to separate the fibers; then you take that slurry and shape it and dry it into a new paper product.

Postage stamps need water. Postage stamps are basically stickers; paper with a sticky coating on the back. Paper's raw material comes from trees; trees are living organisms that need water for survival.

Desk lamps need water. Lamps have many natural resources involved like plastic, glass, metals each of these items require water for manufacture.

The rocking chair needs water. The rocking chair is made of wood, and wood comes from trees. Trees are living things that need water to survive. We also use water in cleaning and dusting products that might be used on the chair as well.

Televisions need water. Televisions need water to be manufactured. We use water to clean them with many of our cleaning products being primarily water. Keep in mind that televisions should not be too wet as it could damage the equipment. Water should not be near electricity either as it can cause electrical shock which is very dangerous.
