Observational drawings. A great way to study the world around you is with observational drawings.
Pick a view from your window, your stoop or backyard, you can even be in your room. Whatever you choose to observe.
Set a timer for 30 seconds. Click here if you need a timer and you will be redirected to a stopwatch website.
When your time is up put your pencil down and move on. No need for perfection in this activity.
Next set the timer for 2 minutes to see how much more detail you can add.
Finally, draw the same picture while observing for 10 minutes. You may see a lot more detail when you stop and pay attention!
