Regional Australasian Biomechanics

Conference in Melbourne

at Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD)

The Australian and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics (ANZSB) is supporting the Sports Performance, Recovery, Injury, and New Technologies (SPRINT) Research Centre at the Australian Catholic University in hosting a regional biomechanics research symposium.

The goal of this event is to bring students and researchers in biomechanics together from across Melbourne.

The symposium will feature talks, showcases, a lab tour, and networking.

Keynote Speaker

Prof Evangelos Pappas

RMIT University

Professor Evangelos Pappas is Director of RMIT’s MedTech Research and Innovation Hub and the university’s inaugural Professorial Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow. An international leader in musculoskeletal health and ACL injury research, his work bridges engineering, computer science, and health to develop technologies that prevent injuries and enhance recovery. His research has informed global clinical guidelines, advanced wearable and AI-based movement assessment, and influenced injury prevention worldwide. Passionate about translating research into real-world solutions, he collaborates with industry, healthcare, and government partners, drawing on global experience across Australia, the U.S., and Europe.
