Rajesh first announced a project with Karthi called Kaagitha Kappal, but it did not proceed, and Rajesh went on to make Oru Kal Oru Kannadi.[3] In 2012, Rajesh announced All in All Azhaguraja.[4][5] He named the new project with Karthi after a character played by Goundamani in the film Vaidehi Kaathirundhal.[6] Rajesh's usual comedian Santhanam would provide the comic relief. Kajal Aggarwal, who worked with Karthi in Naan Mahaan Alla, was selected as the heroine.[7][8] Prabhu joined the cast. Narain was reported to part of the cast,[9] but later denied this.[10] Yuvan Shankar Raja was reported to compose the film's soundtrack,[11] but was replaced by S. Thaman.[12] Filming took place on 2 March 2013.[13] The film was shot in Kumbakonam, Pollachi, Gobichettipalayam, Tenkasi, Ambasamuthiram and other places of Tamil Nadu.[14]
The people associated with Azhaguraja have moved on. Director Rajesh is in talks for his next film, while Karthi has reportedly hit the gym for a lean and mean look in his next movie, directed by Ranjith.
