Foods You Should Not Put in Your Refrigerator

We often store food and drink items in the refrigerator. But, there are some foods that we should not store in the fridge. It may degrade their taste and texture. Here, we will look at foods you should never place in the fridge or double-door freezer.

Banana

Never put bananas in the cold. They will lose their nutrients. The moisture and darkness inside the refrigerator rot them more.

Honey

If you put honey in the fridge, the crystallization effect starts occurring in it. The smooth flow will convert to a firm jelly-like structure. You will also feel a change in taste.

Citrus fruit

Cold temperatures cause damage to citrus fruit. The cold temperature blocks the process of ripening which cause a distinct taste.

Herbs

Some people keep herbs in their fridges, thinking they will last long. But they wilt rapidly in the refrigerator. You can place them in water (stored in any container) to keep them fresh for longer.

Bread

You can keep bread at room temperature and consume it within 3-4 days of purchase will be the best scenario. If bread remains, you can place it in the 2 side door fridge to prevent it from mould.

Winter Squashes

Winter squashes such as pumpkin last more at room temperature than kept inside the fridge.

Oil

Oil can convert into a thick and cloudy form. It is advisable to store it at room temperature in a dark place. The natural cold temperature will not affect, while refrigerator cooling can affect.

Garlic

Placing garlic inside the refrigerator can decrease its lifespan. Freezing can even lead to mould. You can store garlic in a dark and cool place. If feasible, put them in a paper bag.
