Step 1 - Create roof using roof tools. Create flat roof using ONE rectangle, extrude, and tilt to the required slope. Do NOT draw individual rafters, joists, gutters, roofing elements.
Step 2 - Use Vectorworks to generate the elevations. Capture JPEG of the elevations.
Step 3 - Find inspiration design on Pinterest. Keep ONE house in mind, and find the inspiration design for that one house. Do one house by one house. Do NOT try to think of multiple houses on the same development, and find multiple inspirations at one time.
Step 4 - Download the 2D Vectorworks file for designing elevations. With the link below:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J3xRmygf73FdRGAQlFhYBEIi0p_No6LZ/view?usp=sharing
Step 6 - Copy the JPEG into the 2D Vectorworks, scale the JPEG.
Step 7 - 'Copy' the inspiration in the 2D Vectorworks file, fine tune to match the floor plan.
Step 7 is where you design. With 2D images, Vectorworks will respond quickly. You can 'flow' much better.
Watch the videos below. Once design completes, this is the completion of the Concept Design & Design Development stage.
We can then seek client comments & council comments (as required). We can only proceed Planning Permit drawings after.
PS: You don't not have to be right or perfect. You just need to get started!

Pinterest Tip:
Try different keywords.
Click on something closer to what we are looking for, Pinterest will bring us more images that's closer to our design. (For example, if we have single story plan. Pinterest first search shows 10 double storey and 2 crazy single story elevations... click the single storey elevation. Pinterest will show us more that's single story.)
