My name is Shanice Martin. I'm from Toronto, Canada, born and raised, and have always had a love and respect for photography, but it doesn't just stop there. It is pure artistry as a whole. My work is really centered around documentary photography and highlighting the everyday joy of black culture. My next goals are black and white film and portraiture
This is a photograph of my Jamaican grandfather's living room, where every conversation known to man has taken place in this space, where moods range from laughter to sadness, to tears of joy, to dancing. I want to transport you to this moment in time by making you feel the bass pulsating through this frame, like sound waves of Caribbean music, including Reggae, Soca, and Dancehall.
