No. Your photographs do not need to be taken within specific historic neighborhoods. However, submitted work should capture the essence, experiences, and stories of Black Orlando and the greater Central Florida region.
This can be interpreted broadly and creatively. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Portraits of Black individuals, families, or elders living in Orlando or Central Florida
Images documenting everyday life, traditions, celebrations, or community gatherings
Visual narratives centered on Black joy, resilience, culture, or identity
Fashion, fine art, or conceptual work featuring Black subjects connected to the region
Street photography capturing candid moments in Black-owned business districts or public spaces
Documentary or photojournalistic work highlighting social, cultural, or historical themes
Architectural or environmental images that reflect spaces shaped by Black presence and history
Artists are encouraged to share work that reflects authentic perspective, storytelling, and connection—whether literal or interpretive—to Black Orlando.
Each artist may submit up to three (3) times total. Multiple submissions are allowed, but artists will be considered as a single applicant across all entries.
The submission deadline is January 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.
