What We Believe
Redeemer affirms all the ecumenical creeds of the Christian Church, including the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed. We also summarize our beliefs in this way:
We believe that God…
created and sustains all that exists,
entered human history in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior who gave himself in love for the world, and
continues to work in and through the Church by the power of the Holy Spirit for the redemption of creation.
We believe that we are called by our baptism…
to lives of daily repentance and renewal,
to be living witnesses by our words and actions to the Good News of Jesus Christ, and
to practice compassion, mercy and justice as signs of God’s in-breaking kingdom.
In all these things, we affirm
the truth of God’s Word as revealed to us in the Holy Bible,
the historic witness of the Church, especially as expressed in the creeds and the Lutheran confessions, and
God’s gift of the sacraments for the arousing and strengthening of our faith.
Redeemer is a member of the NJ Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
