Reddit Growth Copilot ("the extension") is a browser extension that helps you analyze Reddit discussions and draft replies, and coaches you on growing your Reddit presence. This policy explains what data the extension handles and where it goes.
We collect nothing. The extension has no backend, no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking. The developer never sees your data.
Everything you configure and everything the extension produces is stored locally on your device using Chrome's extension storage.
Data leaves your device in exactly two directions, both under your control: to Reddit (to read public thread and profile data) and to the AI provider you configure (to generate analyses and drafts).
Stored via chrome.storage.local, never synced to your Google account, never sent to the developer:
Your AI provider settings, including your API key
Your founder and product profiles (text you enter or import)
Per-subreddit rules you save
Custom prompt settings
Analysis history (thread URL, title, summary, generated replies, timestamps)
Growth Coach data (your Reddit profile metrics, scores, snapshots, plans, journals, chat history)
You can delete all of this at any time from the extension's settings (History → Clear all) or by uninstalling the extension, which removes its storage entirely.
The extension reads data from Reddit's public JSON API using your existing Reddit session:
The content of post pages you choose to analyze (post + top comments)
Public subreddit rules
Your own public profile and activity (username, karma, posts, comments, trophies) — only when you use the Growth Coach
The extension only ever reads from Reddit. It cannot post, comment, vote, or modify anything on your Reddit account.
When you run an analysis, regeneration, import, or coach feature, the extension sends the relevant text (thread content, your profile text, your account metrics, your questions) with your API key to the AI endpoint you configured — by default api.openai.com, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you choose (including local models via Ollama/LM Studio, in which case nothing leaves your machine at all).
Your relationship with that provider is governed by their privacy policy (for OpenAI, see https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). Choose a provider you trust; the extension works with local models if you prefer zero cloud exposure.
Only when you explicitly use the "Fill with AI" import feature with a URL (e.g., an App Store link, your own website, or a LinkedIn profile), the extension fetches that page to extract text — after Chrome asks you to grant access to that specific site. No other websites are ever contacted.
No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
No selling, sharing, or transferring of data to anyone
No remote code — all code ships inside the extension package
No automated posting, voting, or messaging on Reddit
No collection of browsing history: the extension only activates on reddit.com pages
storage — save your settings and history locally
reddit.com — read public thread, rules, and profile data
api.openai.com — call the default AI provider
Optional site access — requested one origin at a time, only when you configure a custom AI endpoint or import a profile from a URL
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and should not be used by them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
