RED CAROUSEL

Red Carousel is a string quartet (Sue Lord and Ian Vorley, violins; Emma Hooper, viola; Beth Porter, cello), formed in 2005, who collaboratively compose and perform neo-classical loveliness of all sorts.

For many years they specialised in collaborative session work, with clients including Peter Gabriel, Newton Faulkner, Jim Moray, The Heavy and Il Divo.

Then, after more a decade of successfully recording bits and pieces for other people’s projects, the quartet decided to focus on what they do best (and enjoy most): writing their own music. Their works sit somewhere between The Penguin Café Orchestra, Alexandre Desplat and the Attacca Quartet.

Since making this pivot they've performed their own works in an ecletic variety of settings including Glastonbury festival, Colston Hall (Bristol), Bath Music Festival, and Dartmouth Music Festival.

'Getting There' (2023) is their first full length album.
