ReCyP:HER @ IBA team attended the 'Crime Stopper Pakistan' meeting on 25-Feb-2023 hosted at Inspector General of Police, Central Police office, I. I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi presided by Mr. Munir Ahmed Sheikh, Additional Inspector General of Police Investigation, Sindh.
'Crime Stopper' works with public and private partners to increase education about the consequences of crime and run projects to help identify and reduce crime worldwide. Cyber crime has recently become focus of Crime Stopper globally due to escalation in cyber crimes enabled by proliferation in digitization and connectivity.
'Crime Stoppers International' is a global not-for-profit that supports law enforcement efforts to prevent and solve crime by ensuring anonymous reporting of suspected criminal activity to law enforcement with a guarantee of anonymity - leading to safer, more sustainable societies.
During the meeting, the need to start awareness training workshops on Cybersecurity and emerging technologies was discussed. It was emphasized that Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep learning, Cyber Crime awareness, and Informational Security should be introduced to the students and youths at all levels. Thus, not only the young people become aware of the activities that constitute Cyber Crime and realizing its grave consequences shall be deterred from it, but will also expand the qualified cybersecurity professional human resource pool in Pakistan.
Mr. Kamal Shah, Former Secretary Interior, Inspector General of Police and President Crime Stopper Pakistan, and Mr. Ammar Hussain Jaffri, National Coordinator, Crime Stopper Pakistan, ReCyP:HER team headed by Dr Syed Irfan Nabi, and Dr. Qamar ul Arafeen among others participated.
