Recycled PET Market: Growth, Trends, and Future Outlook
The global Recycled PET Market Size was valued at USD 12.76 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow from USD 13.75 billion in 2026 to USD 24.90 billion by 2034, exhibiting a CAGR of 7.71% during the forecast period, according to Fortune Business Insight. This steady upward trajectory reflects the growing global shift toward sustainable materials and circular economy practices across packaging, textiles, and automotive industries. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has emerged as a critical raw material in the push toward reducing virgin plastic consumption, and the Recycled PET Market continues to expand as manufacturers, governments, and consumers increasingly prioritize environmentally responsible production.
Understanding the Recycled PET Market
Recycled PET resin is a valuable manufacturing feedstock that can be reprocessed and reused repeatedly, most notably in bottle production. Instead of being sent to landfills, used PET is collected, processed, and reintroduced into the supply chain as a raw material for new products. This recycling process significantly reduces greenhouse gas and carbon emissions while requiring far less energy than manufacturing virgin PET. As sustainability becomes a core business priority, the Recycled PET Market Growth is being propelled by applications ranging from clothing such as jeans, jackets, and sportswear, to automotive components like seat covers, and of course, the production of new PET bottles.
According to Fortune Business Insight, increasing awareness of sustainability, supportive government initiatives aimed at curbing plastic waste, and ambitious corporate sustainability pledges are all contributing to this growth. Many beverage brands have committed to achieving 100% recycled PET bottles as part of their circular packaging strategies, a trend that is expected to further strengthen Market Demand in the coming years.
Impact of COVID-19 on the Market
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted global supply chains due to strict government regulations across developed and developing nations. Restrictions on movement caused delays in raw material arrivals, disrupted cash flow, and led to workforce absenteeism across manufacturing facilities. These disruptions affected food and beverage, textile, and automotive industries, along with their extended supplier networks. However, following the relaxation of restrictions in 2021, end-use industries gradually began to recover, and this recovery has continued to support the Recycled PET Market’s expansion through the forecast period.
Market Segmentation and Analysis by Application
The Recycled PET Market Analysis divides the industry by grade into flakes and chips, and by application into fibres, strapping, bottles, sheets & films, and others. Among these segments, fibres dominate the market, driven by rising demand in textiles, clothing, accessories, and consumer goods manufacturing. Fibre is particularly important in producing T-shirts, sports apparel, and automobile seat covers. The growing popularity of sports activities across the Asia Pacific region, along with the rising global appeal of events like the Indian Premier League (IPL), is expected to create fresh opportunities for fibre-based recycled PET products throughout the forecast period.
By geography, the market spans North America (U.S. and Canada), Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Rest of Europe), Asia Pacific (China, India, Japan, ASEAN, and the Rest of APAC), the Middle East & Africa (UAE, South Africa, and the Rest of MEA), and Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, and the Rest of LATAM).
Regional Insights: Asia Pacific Leads the Way
Asia Pacific currently dominates the Recycled PET Market and is expected to retain the largest Market Share throughout the forecast period, according to Fortune Business Insight. This regional dominance is largely attributed to increasing recycling initiatives across Southeast Asian countries, home to one of the region’s largest plastics recycling facilities. For instance, in September 2022, ALPLA Company and PTT Global Chemical partnered to establish ENVICCO (Environment Circular Collaboration), Southeast Asia’s largest plastics recycling plant. Additionally, China’s expanding population and robust economic growth are expected to further drive demand across the region.
