With the Voice Memos app (located in the Utilities folder), you can use iPhone as a portable recording device to record personal notes, classroom lectures, musical ideas, and more. You can fine-tune your recordings with editing tools like trim, replace, and resume.

On iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can see your recording in progress in the Dynamic Island at the top of the Home Screen and in other apps. You can tap the Dynamic Island to navigate back to Voice Memos. See View Live Activities in the Dynamic Island on iPhone.

Another possible advantage of ffmpeg arecord is that it might support more output formats/effects and save that directly to the output file. I'm not sure if this is a good idea (delays due to encoding/effects processing?), but it seems to work, e.g. save to mp3 and add a tremolo effect:

Some background:

I have been working on a mobile web application just for my own enjoyment and research. Everything seemed to be working pretty slick with HTML5/CSS and JavaScript for the client application, although it looks like I need a third party technology for voice recording. I had a pretty good solution working with Flash, but after testing it with my IPhone, I had remembered that they don't seem to support flash which is disappointing because I had a pretty good solution going.

Voice Recording Requirements:

1. Must work with both iOS and Android.

2. Must work in most current versions of Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari.

3. Must work within the framework of a mobile web application.

4. Must be able to record without being actively connected to the internet.

5. The client application shouldn't require the user to alter their phone OS.

I tried to be as specific as possible to assist in allowing you to answer this question accurately. If anything is unclear, just let me know in a comment below, and I will further clarify.

If you want to record it as an audio, I think you can only make it for Chrome dev, Chrome canary, Opera next, and some mobile browser.Using the WebRTC getUserMedia() API then make the blob URL of the audio data URL to save it.

If you want to record it as text maybe you can use for webkit browsers. Make an event that make every-time it stop recording it'll add the currently recorded speech to an element and start recording again. Finally, make a blob URL to save it as a text file.

I have been testing the iOS beta for two or three days. The addition of the record voice (not menu) tap action perfectly streamlines the flow I was talking about in this thread, all without changing the previous behavior for those to whom it is more useful. That is a good approach.

I'm trying to record voice memos. I've changed the RATE button to "protect" and then pressing the button a few seconds when reviewing an image, but nothing happens. According to Canon, voice memo was enabled on firmware 1.5.0 and I'm on 1.5.2. Any ideas on how to record a memo?

The R5 has always had the "memo" feature. I believe what they updated with fir 1.5.0 was its ability to record a memo while "protect" is assigned to the rate button. The R5 uses a different mic for memos, which isn't on the R6 (we have both the R5 and R6). The memo mic on the R5 is between the play button and the lower right of the LCD. I guess they could use the video mic on the R6, but I don't see that happening.

Once you have held the [RATE] button for two seconds you may start talking and the voice memo should record. I don't see it updated on the EOS R6 manual but pages 571 and 572 of the EOS R5 manual should apply exactly the same to your EOS R6. I'll link it below for you.

The above steps happen on your phone or tablet and the generated speaker text labels will then be saved in your transcript. Note, the voice models referenced above may be considered biometric data in some countries or regions.

Important: By default, recordings and links that are backed up are private to your Google Account. If you choose to share a recording with the public, anyone with the link can access it.

Back up and sync automatically saves your recordings to your Google Account at recorder.google.com. If you log into your account, you can get your recordings from any device. You can choose to back up and sync some recordings and also choose for other recordings to stay private on your device. .

Important: If you choose to back up and sync, your recordings are backed up outside your device. By default, backed up recordings remain private to your Google Account. Learn more about Google Account privacy policies.

If you use Recorder with different Google Accounts, you can switch between accounts to view the recording library saved to each account. You can only view the recording library of one Google Account at a time.

You can use Recorder without a Google Account so that certain recordings stay private on your device. If back up and sync is turned on, your device switches to and uses the Recorder app to store recordings, even if your device isn't connected to a Google Account.

Many places have rules or laws that prohibit or limit the recording of audio. These places could also decide whether you must get consent from others or the property owner before recording. Make sure to follow all applicable rules and laws, and get permission from others before recording them. Do not record copyrighted materials without permission.

The maxLength attribute lets you set the maximum length for the recording in seconds. If you set maxLength to 30, the recording will automatically end after 30 seconds of recorded time has elapsed. The defaults are 3600 seconds (one hour) for a normal recording, and 120 seconds (two minutes) for a transcribed recording. Twilio Client calls using are limited to 600 seconds (ten minutes).

The trim attribute lets you specify whether to trim leading and trailing silence from your audio files. The default is trim-silence, which removes any silence at the beginning and end of your recording. This may cause the duration of the recording to be slightly less than the duration of the call.

The recordingStatusCallback attribute takes a relative or absolute URL as an argument. If a recordingStatusCallback URL is given, Twilio will make a GET or POST request to the specified URL when the recording is available to access.

The recordingStatusCallbackEvent allows you to specify which recording status changes should generate a webhook to the URL specified in the recordingStatusCallback attribute. The available values are:

The transcribe attribute tells Twilio that you would like a text representation of the audio of the recording. Twilio will pass this recording to our speech-to-text engine and attempt to convert the audio to human readable text. The transcribe option is not enabled by default. If you do not wish to perform transcription, simply do not include the transcribe attribute.

Additionally, transcription is currently limited to recordings initiated via the TwiML verb with a duration greater than two seconds and less than 120 seconds. If you request a transcription for a recording outside these duration limits, Twilio will write a warning to your debug log rather than transcribe the recording.

Twilio will execute the verb causing the caller to hear a beep and the recording to start. If the caller is silent for more than five seconds, hits the # key, or the recording maxlength time is hit, Twilio will make an HTTP POST request to the default action URL (ie. the current document URL) with the parameters RecordingUrl and RecordingDuration.

Twilio will record the caller. When the recording is complete, Twilio will transcribe the recording and make an HTTP POST request to the transcribeCallback URL with a parameter containing a transcription of the recording.

Premiere has started behaving strangely. The first few voice narrations I did worked without a hitch and then all of a sudden every time I click on the microphone icon to add a new narration, it simply jumps to the end of the timelines (I have even add in & out points to no avail) and doesn't record anything. Please see the short screen-cast I made showing the problem. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks

The problem is solved but unfortunately I'm not sure it was an In point marker problem. I did press the little microphone icon to record my voice over, the marker went right at the end of the timeline (as demonstrated in the video) then i started to click randomly on everything and press repeatedly on the spacebar. And suddenly it started to work again.

How do I record the voiceover for my gameplay so it matches up with the video do I watch back my videos to see exactly what I did and how things happened and write a script and read that out loud? Or do I edit my video first and as I'm watching the edited video voiceover exactly what is/has happened at that specific point in the video as im watching it? because

imma not going to exactly 100% remember what happened in the hours and hours of gameplay I recorded for that video so imma have to edit it and rewatch everything to remember exactly everything I did so do I write a script or voiceover what I remember and what I see myself doing in the video idk cuz I want my voice overs to be exactly like all those peoples popular videos on YouTube that is a video of a video game challenge or play through of a game with nice editing and voiceovers e24fc04721
