ReConnect (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application that helps reunite missing people with their families by allowing users to submit missing-person reports and sighting updates, and by providing a police portal to manage cases and rewards.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the app.
1) Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories:
A) Account and profile information
When you create an account (either by manual signup or Google Sign-In), we may collect and store:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Address
Date of birth
Gender
Aadhaar number (used for identity/profile completeness in the app)
For police accounts (in the police portal): name, email, phone number, badge number, station details, and related profile fields
B) Case information (missing-person reports)
When a user reports a missing person, we may collect:
Full name of the missing person
Guardian name and relationship
Age and gender (as entered in the report)
Last seen date
Last seen location (entered as text; and location information may also include coordinates depending on your submission)
Contact email/phone (of the reporter)
Missing-person report image(s)
C) Sighting information (unknown person reports)
When a user submits a sighting, we may collect:
Sighting name/label (as entered)
Location of the sighting (GPS coordinates captured when you use the “GPS” option; stored in a “lat,lng” format and displayed to police/users)
Description/notes
Sighting image(s)
D) Biometric/facial matching data
The app supports face-detection/matching. When you upload images for reports and sightings, our server-side facial matching system may process:
The submitted images (stored temporarily for verification, then used to generate matching results)
Matching results such as verification status and confidence-related values
E) Rewards and case assignment data (police portal)
When police approve rewards and manage cases, we may process:
Reward type and points value
Reward status (pending/approved/rejected/claimed)
References to the related case (links to missing reports and/or sightings)
F) Device/security-related checks
To reduce location spoofing, the app may check certain device settings (for example, whether Developer Options are enabled on Android) before enabling location-based actions. This does not identify you by itself; it is used to control feature availability.
2) How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
Provide core functionality: create reports, track cases, show history, and manage status updates
Perform face matching: compare submitted sighting images against active missing reports using server-side processing
Notify users: send important email notifications (for example, match alerts and reward/account events)
Enable police portal workflows: allow police officers to review, approve/reject rewards, and update case status
Maintain app integrity: perform validation checks and apply security controls for location-based actions
3) Where Information Is Stored and Processed
A) Supabase (database and storage)
We use Supabase services to store:
Your profile/account details
Reports, case data, and reward records
Image references and related metadata
Images uploaded for missing reports and sightings (stored in Supabase Storage)
Images are stored in Supabase Storage and are retrieved for display and for server-side matching when needed.
B) Face detection/matching service (server-side)
For facial matching, the app sends the relevant image reference (via API request) to a server-side face detection service which uses DeepFace (ArcFace with RetinaFace detector). That service:
Downloads the image from Supabase Storage using the provided reference
Runs face verification
Returns matching results to the app for saving/update of case status
C) Email delivery (SMTP)
We send emails using SMTP through an email provider. Emails may be sent to:
Reporters (match found notifications)
Sighting contributors (thank-you notifications)
Users when account/reward updates occur (depending on the app workflow)
4) How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only as needed for the operation of the app, including with:
Service providers/processors (Supabase, and the face detection API)
Email providers (SMTP delivery)
Police portal workflows (case-related information needed for police to manage cases)
5) Biometric Data Notice (Facial Matching)
ReConnect uses images to perform facial matching to detect potential matches between missing persons and sightings. Facial data is processed to generate matching results, which may be stored with the case status.
By using the app and uploading images, you consent to this biometric processing where required by law.
6) Data Retention
We retain information for as long as it is needed to:
Provide the app’s services
Support case management and histories
Comply with legal or policy obligations
Maintain operational integrity (for example, reward records and auditability)
When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it where feasible.
7) Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8) Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate information
Request deletion or restriction of processing
Object to certain processing (where applicable)

9) Children’s Privacy
ReConnect is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the policy.
