Recipe Keeper (iPhone, iPad and Android)

This policy explains what Recipe Keeper does with what you put into it. The short answer: the app has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking, your recipes live on your phone, and the only things that ever leave it are the photos and ingredient lists you choose to send for an AI answer.
No account, no profile
You do not create an account, and the app never asks for your name, e-mail address, phone number or contacts. Nothing in it identifies you to us.
What stays on your phone
Your recipes, cookbooks, favourites, tags, notes, shopping list, cooking preferences (diets, allergies, servings, time, equipment) and the free-use counters are stored only on your device, in the app's own database. We keep no copy and there is no cloud sync. Deleting the app deletes all of it, so use Settings then Export my recipes before changing phones.
What is sent, and only when you ask
Two features need a connection, and both ask for your agreement first. You can say no, and withdraw later in Settings then Privacy.
Scanning ingredients: the photos you choose are shrunk and stripped of location and camera information, then sent to be read for ingredients. The app keeps no copy afterwards.
Writing recipes: the ingredients you have confirmed and your cooking preferences are sent, so a recipe can be written for them.
These requests go over an encrypted connection from your phone straight to Google's Gemini API. Google processes them to produce the answer, under Google's own terms. No account, contact detail, advertising identifier or location is sent with them, and Recipe Keeper keeps no copy and runs no server of its own for this.
Nothing else you do in the app is sent anywhere. Saving a recipe, building a cookbook, searching, writing notes and cooking all work offline.
Importing a recipe from a link
When you paste or share a link, the app fetches that public page and reads only the structured recipe data the publisher has put there. The page you open is between you and that website, and their privacy policy applies to it. If a page has no recipe data, the app saves the link and tells you so rather than inventing a recipe.
Camera and photo library
Camera and photo access are asked for only when you start a scan or choose a picture for a recipe. The app does not read your library in the background and never uploads a photo you did not pick. You can withdraw access at any time in your phone's settings.
AI answers can be wrong
Recipes and ingredient lists produced by AI are labelled as such. AI cannot tell whether food is fresh or safe, cannot see what is hidden or unlabelled, and cannot guarantee a recipe is free of an allergen. Always check labels yourself and cook food thoroughly. Every AI result has a Report action if something is wrong or unsafe.
Purchases
Recipe Keeper Premium is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system on iPhone and iPad, and through Google Play Billing on Android. Apple or Google handles the payment; we never see your card details, your Apple Account or Google account, or your purchase history. The app asks the store whether a subscription or the lifetime purchase is currently active and keeps that answer on the device. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking
Version 2.0 contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no crash reporting service. We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Children
The app is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
Do not use a feature if you do not want its content sent for an AI answer; everything else works without sending anything.
Withdraw AI permission at any time in Settings then Privacy.
Withdraw camera or photo access in your phone's settings.
Export your recipes, and delete the app to remove everything stored.
Because we hold no account and no identifier for you, there is no server-side profile to export or delete.
Changes
We will update this page and the effective date whenever the app's data practices change.
