I was born cursed, a monster, at least that’s what they say. To me, I’m perfectly human. Yet that isn’t how others see me. I was born under an eclipse known as the Black Sun. My father Fredefalk didn’t seem to mind until he married Aridea. She claimed that a magic mirror told her that I would kill her and many others. The sorceror Stregobor came to investigate me. He spied on me, determined that I was a monster. My stepmother then sent a thug to kill me.
TW: RAPE, MURDER. He raped me and robbed me until I managed to kill him with my mother’s brooch. (TRIGGERING SECTION OVER).
After that, I had to make my way in the world somehow. I’d steal, swindle, do whatever I could to survive. Aridea still kept trying to kill me, sending assassins after me whenever she could, even trying to poison me with an apple until she died herself, from poison funnily enough. Of course, I was suspected.
By this time, I had moved in with a bunch of gnomes, seven to be exact. One day, they argued, and let’s just say I was the only one left standing. I ran into Stregobor then, wanted to attack, but the sorcerer turned me into a slab of mountain crystal. Luckily, for me, destiny intervened. A prince from a faraway kingdom found and saved me. His father didn’t like me very much, but he died. I became the son’s favorite mistress for a while until I left him to find Stregobor.
He kept running away from me, until finally I had him cornered in Blaviken. Everything would have gone as planned if Geralt of Rivia hadn’t been there. I told him to choose the lesser evil and to either convince Stregobor to leave his tower or to kill the sorcerer himself. He refused.
The next day, after spending the night with the Witcher, I got ready to enact my revenge. I sent my band of men to the market and went to Stregobor’s tower myself. He laughed at me. In my face. The Witcher and I fought. I’m sure you can all imagine how that ended.
Was I a monster? Did it even matter? I’d still say I’m the lesser evil.
