BIOGRAPHY.

For a long time, I believed my father hated me. That he intended to pass over me as his heir and give the honor to my younger brother, Quentyn. Little did I know my father’s true plans. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Since a young age, I was independent and fierce. My brothers were sent away, and so I was closest to my cousins the Sand Snakes, particularly Tyene. I loved their father, my uncle Oberyn dearly, and was so upset when he was killed in King’s Landing. At the age of fourteen, I stumbled across a letter written by my father that seemed to suggest that my younger brother Quentyn would be his heir. Not content to be passed over, I became determined to prove myself worthy and not be robbed of my birthright.

My father would present me with suitors, but they were all too old and unworthy of me. I became even more convinced that he wanted to pass over me as his heir and that he didn’t have any great affection for me. But little did I know his true plans. He also arrested my cousins the Sand Snakes, except Sarella who was not in Dorne at the time. Determined to prove myself worthy and to free my cousins, I hatched a plan to crown Myrcella Baratheon as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, based on Dornish law.I convince Arys Oakheart, a member of the Kingsguard, to help me because Myrcella would let us get married despite his Kingsguard vows. Though I had no intention of marrying him, since I liked but did not love him.

I get a bunch of people together to help me with this plan. Though I do not trust Darkstar very much, since he dismisses my plan as unrealistic and alludes to killing Myrcella. Arys meanwhile, has to sneak Myrcella out of Sunspear and meet everyone else at Shandystone. The final destination is set for Hellholt, where I will crown Myrcella and raise her banners. However, we do not get there. When we arrive at the Greenblood, Areo Hotah, my father’s captain of the guards and several other of his men intercept us. Poor Arys dies and Myrcella is severely injured, losing an ear. While I am being arrested, Areo lets it slip that someone betrayed me. But who?

I realize, while locked up, that it must have been Drey, Garin, or Sylva. But which one? I attempt to send a message to Lord Uller, which my father intercepts. After that, I begin a hunger strike. After several weeks, my father finally calls me. He tells me that Ser Balon Swann of the Kingsguard is coming and I realize he wants my help in convincing Myrcella to lie about what happened. Once I reveal about having read the letter, he says that he had secretly promised my hand to Viserys Targaryen. I would have been Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately for me, Viserys was killed. Now, he has sent my brother Quentyn to wed his sister Daenerys.

Now that I know my father’s plans, I am more content. I will be his heir. And my brother will marry Daenerys. I convince Myrcella to lie to Ser Balon and tell him that Arys was slain by Ser Gerold Dayne, not Areo Hotah. She always was fond of me. My father Doran says that they will travel to the Water Gardens, where Myrcella is and where she will plead for Gerold to be brought to justice. That is, if my father’s plan works out. Doran reveals to three of my cousins, the Sand Snakes, what their role in his plan will be. I wish my cousins well, and remain with my father.

After everyone leaves, my father tells me a fleet has taken to water from Lys. It hopefully contains my brother Quentyn and the Queen Daenerys Targaryen.

I am Arianne Martell. I am indeed not being robbed of my birthright. I will succeed my father as ruler of Dorne. I will burn brightly.
