BIOGRAPHY.

Born on a beautiful summer day to Takoda Chasing Horse (hunkpapa lakota, hudeshabina nakoda, sissiton-wahpehton dakota (fort peck sioux),) , and Ananya Yáng Jackson- Chasing Horse (Thai-Chinese & White) , Kimimela Anya Ai Chasing Horse was bound to be a special person. Her parents were deeply in love, so much so that they eloped. Both sets of parents disapproved, but it didn’t matter to the lovers. They knew if they had each other, they’d be fine.

And indeed they were, for a while. They got pregnant quickly, and gave birth to their daughter, Kimimela, named that because it means “butterfly” and while she was born, her mother spotted a butterfly out the window. Her father took it as a good omen, that her life would be a happy one. And so it was. But her father had a secret. You see, he came from a long line of supernatural hunters. They had a strict code, though. They wouldn’t harm any supernatural beings that wouldn’t harm humans. And Takoda Chasing Horse believed in second chances.

One day, when Kimi was 21 years old, while on a hunt, Kimimela’s father Takoda came across some vampires while with other hunters. Most of the vampires were killed, but one begged for mercy. Takoda hesitated, and was considering what to do. He made the vampire promise not to harm any innocent people, and to survive off of animal blood whenever possible. The vampire agreed.

And so Takoda was happy. He went back to his family and enjoyed his time with his wife and daughter. But what he didn’t know is that the vampire followed him. The vampire hadn’t taken the promise seriously, unlike Takoda. And so he kills Takoda and Ananya. Kimimela only survives because she happens to be at a friend’s house.

Devastated to return home to find her parents dead, Kimimela frantically searches the house for any clues as to who could have killed them. That is when she comes across her father’s hunting information. The supernatural is real? She is skeptical at first, but the bite marks on her parents’ necks point to one option: vampires.

So she takes her father’s stakes and all of his weapons and moves to a cabin somewhat near where she had lived with her parents. She mostly lives off the land, but occasionally heads into town to hunt and spend time with friends.

And the vampire? The one who killed her parents? His name is Jules Dubois. He’s currently in hiding, trying to avoid her, but Kimimela is determined to draw him out somehow. He is also equally determined to kill her. Who will win? Well, Kimimela managed to track down a supernatural hunter friend of her father’s Dakotah Black Elk, to teach her everything he knows about hunting vampires. She’s not opposed to taking out other creatures if they pose a threat to humanity, though. She follows her father’s code to the letter, for the most part. But she tends to see red when confronted with vampires. One did kill her parents, after all.

Kimimela is hoping to find the creature who killed her parents and put a stake through its heart. She also runs a private detective agency out of her home, making sure the worst of humanity gets justice. And sometimes, only sometimes, she takes them out too. Only the worst of the worst , though. And from her perspective, though she’s meant to protect humanity, the world will be a better place with less serial killers and/or rapists in it, right?

Kimimela also sees a therapist that Dakotah recommended to her. One who knows about the supernatural. (Tameka Starr.) And she’s slowly healing from her parent’s tragic deaths. However, she thinks the best healing will come when she stakes the vampire that killed them.

Kimimela , in her spare time, loves to read, write, and watch TV/movies. She also enjoys listening to music, crocheting and knitting, going for walks, and spending time with friends. However, she’s a bit of a workaholic where her hunting and detective agency is concerned. She devotes far too much time to both, and doesn’t have much work-life balance and therefore time for herself. But that’s something she’s working on in therapy, for sure. Though personally, she feels that she can’t slow down at least with the hunting, until she finds the creature that killed her parents.
